Having both the fixed and the variable...I have to say I really prefer the variable. The variables are very stout as well. Unless you're just using the intended rifle for known targets at a fixed distance, I would go for the variable if you can.

Weaver made in USA 30mm scope mount. Mounted on a 5.56 rifle but upgraded to Laure. Decent mount, but I only have a few 30mm optics. Don't see much use for this.
