So true. That would also lead me to believe that in the interim, as a procedure is being developed that potentially no semi automatic rifles could be sold post September 4th. So many issues with this. NYS has no incentive to create a process before the 4th, quite the opposite actually, so then...
If the moderators feel there is a more appropriate place to post this, please move it.
So prior to receiving my pistol permit I signed up to the monroe county clerk's office pistol permit email list.
I recieved this today
For anyone interested...
So, my card was received today @ 4:02 pm.
For all in the future, here are the specifics;
Application given to the clerk September 24th, 2021 @ 2:37 pm.
References were contacted 194 days later, Thursday, April 7th, 2022 @ 10:37 AM, or 194 days, 20 hours and zero minutes.
Letter of...
After watching the aforementioned video for an hour, I was angered, appalled, words barely describe what is was like. Some observations of officers directly within the hallway and thier actions/ appearance-
Many had ar15s. None engaged.
Many on cell phones texting.
Shield available within...
For anyone interested, over 3 hours of bodycam video has been released on YouTube on the Law and Crime network channel.
Long watch, I plan on watching in pieces. Would be interested if any former/current LEO/LEAS or Military watch, what thier opinion is specifically of the video.
NVM. Its...
I agree with @irick above. Check the clerks office appointment site regularly as he could move up. But even if they follow the old rules regarding permit applications, the fact that they batch process all applications, that being the old way and those with the new requirements mixed together...
A day early but already known, 300 days, no permit in the mail ( for tomorrow, know with usps app). As predicted, no permit before 300 days. On to 307, most likely longer.
Until 307, signing off.
Would be nice if they took the time to focus a bit more on the truth...
A good guy with a gun ( and a moral compass with courage) stopped a bad guy with a gun.
So, called the clerk today to get an update. Had a brief conversation before getting my answer, thought it appropriate to share. Clerk stated that over 3K permit applications were submitted in Monroe county in 2021. So far this year it has surpassed 2K applications and it only being July, this...
Apparently there is a possibility this will be forwarded from the judiciary committee to the house soon, the of course the Senate.
Considering they were able to pass more gun legislation recently, this is worrisome.
So, I found this interesting. According to the new ccw law, carrying in any of the newly deemed "sensitive areas " can be charged as a class E felony, with a sentence of up to 4 years in prison. This made me wonder, what other crimes classify under a class E felony? Read below :
-Aggravated...
What's a bit perplexing to me is my belief that officers are equipped with patrol rifles, yet I saw not a single one in a vehicle accessible to an officer or one used in this. Why?
Specifically, they mentioned Saratoga county and thier judges actions between September 1st and April 1st, 2023. ( watch video for greater detail). As NY has over 60 counties, hence unfortunately 60 different applications of a PP scheme, I don't believe this is a blanket application across...
I believe she deals mostly with personal cases. Amy belatori( most likely misspelled). I'm unaware whether she actively litigates generally in federal law cases, although I may be wrong.
Ya know what day today is? Day 292. A day late from the weekly update. No card received as of today ( have USPS app, not coming today). I have a feeling I may not see this until after the new law takes effect, or shortly before. If I'm right, that would be a kick in the junk for sure. Been 21...
Received an email to call the clerk. Of course I did. The answer?
Will be several more weeks. Hasn't been mailed yet. Best they can say. We shall continue to wait.
Disappointing.
Email sent today ( 7:18 AM) with photos of both the letter received and my driver's license ( as proof of identification, as a reference number wasn't on the letter).
Let's see what happens :)
There must have been a rash of crime around the same time, as my deputy badge from the wild west show at fantasy island was lost. Went back several times to have it replaced.
While I like all of the little he said, I'm reminded that he is up for election, and his past history doesn't bode well proving anything about his willingness to truly take a stand about the issue.
Edit-although we are left with little choice but to vote for him.
My .02. Having the 4 cases remanded back to the lower courts is actually not great for us in NY. Had SCOTUS issued a writ to hear those cases, it would be a national ruling, potentially helping all of us. Instead, having the determinations vacated and sent back down will only effect the...
I vaguely remember this happening to a NJ security guard. Similar in nature, as he was carrying hollow points, ISSUED to him by his employer. Hollow points are illegal in NJ. Got pulled over, displayed his SG card and firearm, was arrested and prosecuted for it. Don't know the outcome.
It wasn't on the application. The application was already submitted in September. As stated above, the request for social media accounts occurred during my phone interview from the sheriff's department this April.
Funny part is, during covid, the couldn't even get the unemployment system to operate properly...
As it was based on coding for nearly 40 years ago. To think they could do this successful at all would take a miracle.
One thing I had failed to post here for anyone following now or in the future is the time to receive your actual permit after getting your approval letter and adding that to the total time from application to receipt. Once received I will repost the entire timeframe.
As of now, time from...
Oh hello. Nice of you to introduce yourself. Please, ask any questions you like. Once everyone is familiar with you you might get an answer. Until then, its unlikely.
Welcome to your first, and probably, last post!
That is exactly thier reasoning. They have endless funds ( ours) so it wouldn't be a fair fight. Liability insurance would somewhat level the playing field, and that goes against the politics of the state. That is all prefaced on the actual statistical chance being minimal that you will be...
