I was actually against the expanding of bow season when it happened years ago. The 4 weeks they used to give was plenty. I think the deer population the DEC targets is way too low for the area I hunt in. You are crazy if you think the DEC knows what the Hell they are doing.
IMO, firearms season...
5% doesn't guarantee ballot access. It's up to the states to determine limits. Getting that federal funding would definitely help with ballot access though.
When you do your taxes, you have the option of donating (and writing off) up to $3 that goes to the Presidential Election Campaign Fund. You can read more about it here Federal Election Commission
Millions of dollars are donated. When election time comes, that money is split up based on how well...
Do you use TurboTax or another online preparer for your taxes? Know how you can donate to the "Presidential Election Campaign Fund"? Once a party receives 5% of the national popular vote, they are eligible to receive that percent in federal funding. That's something like $10 million dollars if a...
The blade forum will probably turn into the gear forum since there isn't much activity in there now. Post your gear stuff there, for now at least. I'll talk to the other admins about changing the name.
I just plink around for the most part. Some 300 yard shooting of centerfires, close shooting with pistols, the occasional clay bird, etc. I don't really have a favorite thing now.
I've rattled in various deer through the years. I've had all sorts of deer come in from little 4 points to a monster 8 point that came in from behind me affording me no shot. I don't rattle too hard. If you go all out thrashing trees and being super loud, you're only going to draw in the biggest...
In all fairness, they employ something like 2000 people. It's all the other money that the foundation is spending that is the big issue. They don't spend much of their money on their actual mission.

I don't think every crossbow hunter will fill their tags. However, crossbow hunters have more of a chance of filling their tags. This is a fact. When states start to allow crossbows, more deer are taken. Success rates in MI were 6% higher for crossbow users in the first season they could be...
Shannon Watts has unknowingly taken pictures with people carrying before.Supposedly, she got mad at Todd Kauranen after he told her to keep up the good word because sales were doing so well.

Sorry, I see Clinton winning it. Too many people looking for a handout. We've gone too far and I don't see us turning back again.
Either way, corporations win.
almost 3/4 million people have registered to vote in NY since this past Spring. Unfortunately, it seems like most of them are registered Democrats.

Stranded with no food, the fat guy can always last longer :D That's what I'm going for!
j/k. I've lost 20 pounds this year and want to hit 25 by Dec 31st.
This might be a long shot....
My son will be turning 6 this coming Spring. I'll be starting him out with a BB gun, but when the time comes in a year or two, I want his first gun to be a .22 that was made the same year he was born. Does anyone have a semi auto 22 rifle that was made in 2011 that...
How is that a strawman?
There is absolutely no denying that crossbows are easier to use and people who use them harvest deer at a higher rate than vertical bow users do. This has been proven.
The specific area I'm in has seen a drastic decrease in the number of deer over the past 15 years...
There are plenty of states that limit people from making a more accurate kill. For example, CO doesn't allow scopes on muzzleloaders. People complain because the crossbow is easier to use and generally requires less practice. I normally prepare for bow season months in advance. I shoot hundreds...
I'd be fine with limiting archery season to longbows and recurves. I plan to buy one in the next couple of years and use it. I think a compound bow resembles traditional bows more than a crossbow.
I'd say that shooting a crossbow is more like shooting a gun than a traditional bow. Minimal...
This could open a big hornets nest.
I'll add my two cents though. I don't think crossbows should be allowed during the regular archery season. To me, they're more "gun like" than "bow like". I don't support the able-bodied person using them during bow season. If a person is physically...
Was it dead center low, or off to one side? With right hand shooters, low and left can mean they're jerking the trigger or they're pulling the trigger with the tip of their finger. Low and right can mean that as they're pulling the trigger, they're tightening their grip. It can also mean that...
I thought the same thing until I started carrying a nice pen (that I made). Haven't lost it yet. I'm more worried about someone swiping it off my work desk when I get up to go pee or something.
The weather looks pretty decent this weekend too. I'm going to try and make it out Sunday, but I'm supposed to install some windows for my father in law. I was hoping to sit all day, but it looks like I'll only be able to go for a morning hunt.
Are you going to be pushing the scope to the extreme? For example, there's no need to buy an expensive scope with the absolute clearest glass if you are only going to be shooting it at 1pm, with clear skies, from a bench. If you plan on pushing it a little (like for hunting), then you'll...
Swarovski has some of the clearest glass you'll ever see on a scope, but you're going to pay for it.
I'd seriously look at Vortex. They're going to be expensive as well, but their warranty can't be beat.
I hold onto the gun and holster with one hand, and the other side of my pants with the other. For some reason, I'm not a fan of reholstering. Something about not being able to totally see exactly what you're doing.
Agreed. The one bad thing about lighters is that they don't work very well at all when you're at a high elevation and it's cold. I definitely noticed decreased performance below 30°when I was at 9200'.
Not a picture, but it belongs here......
