The Gander in Henrietta is pretty good. Their archery staff really helped me out and showed me how to fletcher arrows. He even took me in the back and showed me their shop. This was about 10 years ago. I mainly go there just to browse. Occasionally you can find a killer deal on a used firearm...
There is probably an exit at the top near grocery. I'd grab the family and make our way out the back entrance by health and grocery. I'm not walking back across the whole store. Some of the people at the left entrance are going to be heading straight back towards home appliance, so I wouldn't...
No way he tries to run for the governor of NY. He's one of the leading Democrat senators. Governor would be a step down. I think they're grooming Schneiderman to be the next governor.
I've finally convinced my wife to get her permit. She says she doesn't really want her own gun. She just wants to be able to shoot mine (and probably make me buy the ammo). Maybe a pink camo .22 or something like that is in her future.
I'm going to leave this open, for now. I hope people that find this thread can realize who holds what beliefs and doesn't judge the entire community because of what some of it's members believe.
If I have to delete one more post after this, it's getting locked. (I'll be re-reading the whole...
If a $1000 tax on guns is unconstitutional, maybe someone should re-look at Seattle's ammunition tax. I think it's 2 cents per .22 and 5 cents for every other round of ammo. A 500 round box of .22 that costs $30 would now cost $40. A 33% tax seems over the top and more than "de minimus".
Got any pictures of that monster?
I've never shot anything absolutely huge, but I almost got my 8 point from a couple years ago mounted. He was the 2nd or 3rd biggest anybody has ever shot on the property. They don't grow as big where we are because the farms have been replaced by homes. That...
Since we're talking about our favorite ways to poop in the woods, I'll let you guys in on my secret....
Find a tree that has fallen down that has a branch that makes a "Y" shape that is parallel to the ground. You can nestle your cheeks in there so you don't have to use your quads to hold you...
They probably would. But, I'm not willing to risk my life on that.
Magazine and recoil springs wear. I probably shoot around 1500 rounds of 9mm a year. That's a decent amount of wear and tear on a spring. I want to be 100% confident that nothing has changed and everything will function flawlessly.
Sorry you didn't get the message sooner. I've told so many people about this place, I don't remember who I've told and who I haven't.
Glad you could be here. :welcome:
They're definitely for handguns. Here is the page on Federal's website. Federal Premium Ammunition - Handgun
And, for comparison, here is the 124gr p9hst1. Federal Premium Ammunition - Handgun
I'm not impressed with the energy they put out. I'd be curious as to what their testing...
That is pretty odd. Why step away from something proven like the 147 gr? 3 grains isn't going to make any difference. Maybe they were a bunch of miscast bullets and WalMart got them for a cheap price :D
Switch to a 2 blade broadhead and turn down the poundage. You'll get pass through shot shooting 58 pounds. Plenty of deer have been taken with setups like that.
I've heard that Federal HST and Speer Gold Dots are the most common among LE. I use 9mm 124 gr HST. Masaad Ayoob recommends carrying whatever your local police department carries in case you ever need to use it as your defense in a trial. Massad Ayoob: Police ammo for the rest of us?
I shoot a...
Make sure you check out the Federal HST rounds as well. You can usually find them locally. I carry the 124 gr ones in my M&P. They're used by plenty of police forces too because they perform pretty well when shooting through glass. Note that these are NOT the same thing as the outdated...
A couple really stand out to me.
1. The media - Nothing really stands out like a great "human interest" story. The more conflict, the better the story.
2. The people being "oppressed" - The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Cry enough, and get the help of the media, and you can turn any story into...

Hex and I quit our positions at the other site. You can see our resignation threads there. Weren't happy with the sale of that site, how it happened, who it was sold to, etc. Started a new site. Most of the active members jumped ship with us.
Welcome to the...
I stopped by gander in Henrietta tonight. They had the Federal loaded 150gr partitions, so I picked up a couple of boxes. I was hoping for the 165gr, but, these will still do the job. Thanks for the help everyone.
There is absolutely no way to eliminate all the scents that humans bring into the field. The only sure fire way to beat their nose is to stay downwind of them. If the deer are used to human smells, they won't run to the next town when they smell you. I've had them come out into the field I was...
I'm fully convinced that people just don't care. As long as their handouts don't go down, people just don't seem to care. There is absolutely no way that corruption doesn't continue up the ladder to Cuomo. People knew this before the last election, and they just didn't care. We had gun owners...
