You can't go into the Clubhouse without hitting political posts. This is where a lot of the "community feel" and friendly ribbing happen. It helps make our community.
If we move all political posts into "Politics and Law" then there will just be a huge blob of political posts with the firearms...
Ithaca is about as liberal as people can get. They control county politics. This is the same county that wants to sterilize deer instead of just shooting them.
Updated again. Thanks for the suggestions. I added the color orange for counties where it can be difficult to obtain a permit with no restrictions, but where it is possible. Yellow is now for places where you just have to jump through some hoops, but it's relatively easy.
I've got no issue locking your guns up. I've got issues with the government telling people they must lock up their guns or face jail time. The government shouldn't be legislating responsibility. They have no business telling me how to store my firearms, or knives, or any other potentially deadly...
Get a smoker and look how to smoke them. If you're careful, go slow, and don't drop anything, you may not get stung. I haven't been stung in a couple years now.
If you want to send it to me, I'm sure I can do it for you. My email is my username @nygunforum.com. If you're on Windows, you can try to use Paint, but sometimes that butchers the image.
There is no small, medium, or large option like on the other site. You have an option of thumbnail or full size when you upload a picture. When you link to a picture from another site, you can't change the size.
If you upload a really large picture, I think it will scale it to a viewable size...
I've heard good things about those scopes. I'm a fan of Leupold scopes. I've got a VX-R 4-12 on my .308 bolt gun and like it. I may try out a Vortex scope next though.
You're boned. There are maybe one or two groups of people in worse positions than you are. If those windows behind you are an option, I'd be using those. If that's not an option, running across the hallway out into the corridor and out of the building would probably be your best bet to get out...
Easy... Blondes
Wait... I married a brunette!
If we're talking strictly carry guns for personal protection. I'd choose 9mm. Easy, cheap, and very effective. The guns are generally smaller and a little easier to conceal. In a free state, you get way more capacity as well.
Nothing will be there that isn't here, so you're not missing much. The plan is to post a weekly "Thread of the week" with a link back to the thread. It will be used to drive traffic from Facebook shares and likes over to this site.
As has been said, angle compensation is important when bowhunting. Let's say you're shooting out of a treestand and aiming 40° down. That's a steep shot, but not unreasonable. You range the deer at 45 yards, which is a doable shot for a competent archer. If you settle your 40 yard pin at the top...
In all fairness to Gary, the people that were hurt in the Chelsea bombing weren't seriously hurt. They were all treated and released from the hospital(s). That said, he can be an idiot sometimes. He could have worded his response better.
The floor or the wall. If/when you move houses, walls are usually easier to repair for most people.
I did forget to mention before that I have a couple other small ones. One of them is a small Stack-On pistol safe next to the bed. The other is cabled to the frame of the seat in my vehicle. It...
The first thing that stuck out to me was that he only got 5 years for attempted murder. He should have been locked up longer.
That said, good on him for turning his life around. There are comments on the article that the taco place he went to was a known gang hangout and wasn't really near his...
I follow a bunch of different news places on Facebook. Local Rochester news stations, some conservative ones, some gun ones, etc. That gets me info on local, national, and gun issues. I also cruise a few different places on Reddit and get some news from there.
Nobody is saying not to talk politics. Talk politics all you want. I'll be right there with you. I've joined the political threads both here and at the other site.
What I don't want, is this site to turn into where we came from, where politics (and especially the Off-Topic section) was where...
A nice quality bonded bullet will blow through both lungs and out the other side. It's all about expansion inside the deer. Some people use soft points which break apart.
Lol... Deleting emails via retention policy is pretty basic stuff. It's pretty amateur hour if you can't figure that out. I'm not all that surprised though.
Find a local club and see if they do classes. There is a local club in the Finger Lakes that holds free new beekeeper classes every year. It's like six 1 or 2 hour classes. They'll even pair you up with a mentor if you want to get to know someone with experience.
Great info from everyone here. I'm glad to have some great instructors post here. I hope people see this info and seek out training because of it.
And, thanks @Celt for taking the time and effort to help out here.

I know enough. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I've been doing it for 3 or 4 years now. I'm in the Rochester area, but I get around.
I'd guess that they are taps. It's normal for the taps to have blue hose coming off them. This hose gets connected to a larger hose which goes down the...
I finished harvesting my honey. I ended up with about 4 gallons of it. I just have to can/package it. The bees should be able to fill up their hives with enough food for winter. The goldenrod is still blooming pretty well. My family is going to love their Christmas presents this year. Honey and...
Was this the guy that bought the tickets so he could destroy the firearm? I remember a priest winning one with that intent, but I'm not sure if it was him.
Personally, I'd like to see separate areas for firearms and non firearms related politics. We can all agree on firearms politics for the most part. The main disagreements on the site have to do with other political things. If we could "quarantine" those to a different, separate area, it may make...
I'm looking to buy a rangefinder. It has to have "scan" mode, compensate for angles because I bowhunt, and have a range of at least 600 yards. I'll end up buying one in the next week or two if nobody has one they're looking to get rid of.
I don't have any experience using a .223 for hunting. That said, any premium hunting bullet by the top manufacturers that is designed for deer hunting will do fine. Personally, I'd find a round that uses the Barnes TSX or Nosler Partition. Keep it 65gr or under.
Alternatively, you could build...
