Every post i have made regarding aluminum hand guards and vertical grips and an AR (M16/M4) being extremely hot has been prefaced with “select fire”. Obviously on semi auto it is not an issue (The exception being the SCAR and I specifically said theybwere semi. And technically it is not an AR. )

Select fire stoner designed aystems with aluminum handguards get too hot to handle (even with thin gloves) very quickly. Even traditional plastic HG get very hot very quickly.....not nearly as bad as the aluminum ones. This is why my select fire suppressed AR has plastic handguards.

Even with gloves they can get too hot to handle. My scar 16/17 gets stupid hot....and they are semi auto.

Verticle grips are needed on aluminum handguards on select fire weapons. They aid in keeping you from burning your hands.
