This is an interesting idea. I think if you have a small group of people to give you and your guys a chance to go work together in a dynamic environment might really have some practical use to really gain some lessons and experience.

Just got to watch the bad habits people develop. In airsoft concealment and cover are the same thing.
I don't disagree on that. I think his points were about teamwork, communication, etc.
That is valuable experience for many to learn . I suppose you can get out of it what you put in.
Ehh he's an advocate for the gun community so he's alright with me
I played paintball for about 10 years, five of those on a speedball tournament team. Like airsoft concealment is cover and like airsoft you get people doing stuff they would not do in battle because of the limited range of the tools used. I agree, teamwork and communication skills as well as problem solving are where the value is in airsoft or paintball.

As you guys said, there are many benefits to training with airsoft, and more mainstream trainers are getting on board with this due to the ammo shortage. There are a good handful of videos on youtube about it. Ive been using it as a training aid for many years.
Lately (past 6 months or so),I train 2 -3 days a week with airsoft both carbine and pistol. Drawing from concealment, mag changes, transitions, shooting and moving, shooting from unconventional positions, shooting from behind cover, shooting and moving between cover, multiple target engagements, etc... these are all things I work on by myself.
Of course, the recoil is different, and there is no real proficiency in accuracy that you will gain, but acquiring targets through your sights and getting rounds on target is transferable.
It would be great to have others nearby that want to work on some training for team tactics and communication.

I respect your discipline and focus. I'm in the Rochester area, but would most def work out with you if we were local.

We need more people willing to get together and train. Im fortunate that my current work schedule affords me the opportunity to do so. I lift weights and do cardio 3x per week and then get in 1-2 hours of the airsoft drills in 2-3x per week.
Quick clip of draw and shoot with 1 round on target.

I have a Krytac Spr mkii for my m4 and a KSC glock 19 gas blowback. The m4 is an aeg which means electric battery powered, it has a functioning bolt/catch although it doesnt lock back on empty and theres no recoil. I pull the bolt back to engage the bolt catch so it works when I do my mag change drills. Its considered a pretty good airsoft rifle and runs about $400.
I dont believe the KSC G19 is still made or it may have been bought out and rebranded, but its got more than 10000 rounds through it and Ive only needed some new mags for it. If I had to buy a new glock replica it would likely be EliteForce/Umarex brand glock.

I've been waiting to watch this video for a couple days I just need some time to dedicate to it.
Get nods and thermals...
Airsoft can be a good training tool but it has to be done correctly. If you don’t know proper techniques and/or tactics, you’ll still be making the same poor mistakes except you’ll be doing it with an airsoft gun instead of a real one. Sure it’s pretty much impossible to accidentally shoot someone and kill them with an airsoft gun but you’re still burning shitty reps and building training scars. Once you have enough knowledge and training to know the proper ways to attack problems, then you can self diagnose yourself and know when you fucked something up. Then you can make a mental note of it, and unfuck yourself.
Airsoft rifles obviously don’t replicate the same ballistics of real rifles but they can still be helpful to build muscle memory for holdovers at cqb distances. Also one of the other benefits of it is being able to get good reps of weapon manipulation and getting on the gun. The best thing to do if you’re able to, is to build an airsoft rifle as close as possible to your real setup. Then it is that much closer to becoming second nature when you do manipulate your real rifle. You can break it down to the fundamentals and get tons of reps. Rep out low ready and high ready presentations all day long. Once you get solid presentations down where you’re getting a good cheek weld and good optic presentation on target where you want the reticle to be, then you can add in actually adding in firing it and realizing your holdovers. You can do this for thousands and thousands of reps and barely spend any money in bb’s since some cost literally less than half of $0.01 per bb.

Now taking that into consideration, if you’re only buying an airsoft rifle just to burn good reps of up drills, build dope on cqb holdovers, and never want to actually go play airsoft with your buddies, you also have the option of the MantisX Blackbeard. With Blackbeard you will be building reps of your actual rifle. You get used to your actual rifle’s trigger pull and reset. You can use whatever you want as targets, you can also integrate it into shooting apps to track your progress on your times and your accuracy.
With all that said, if you’ve never shot an airsoft gun…it is pretty fun to see bb’s flying through the air, putting holes in cardboard, and shooting people without the risk of killing them lol.

I shoot air rifles and pistols too. But also do paintball and airsoft.
I've got some serious .50cal air rifles, which are lots of fun!
