I am sad because the ADKs are my favorite place to be and now I really need to move. This is a great state. It has some of the most beautiful places in the world but it will always be run by people who only care for themselves and the power they control. It will go right down the drain now.

What happened I thought it was an absolute that Zeldin was going to win? I guess I wasn’t being negative and just realistic as I said.
I will say it was closer than I thought it would be a month ago or so Bit as of the last few weeks I said hochul by 6 and that’s about what it will be. He did ok in the end, but there are just too many cockroaches in NYS.

Like many others here I’m very disappointed with the results. I think this confirms what many of us have been feeling. It’s time to go… this state is a lost cause and will only become worse.

The losses last night are very disappointing all around. There is one positive note. Hochul won but not by alot. Compare her win to FUACs
She had 600,000 less votes than Andy and Zeldin had 500,000 more votes than Molinaro.

I work all over the city and had hope for Zeldin, as a lot of people in the city said they were voting for Zeldin because of the crime issues they were experiencing and their paychecks not feeding their families.
I guess there wasn't enough of those city people to overcome the city people that don't have any issues with crime and money.
As someone said before, I'm done listening to the complaints and although it's hard to accept, even Bruce Willis isn't going to be able to get us out of the impending mess NY is headed into.
I just hope that my family or I don't become one of those crime statistics before we are able to get on a life raft.

Fox News was showing a 'voter analysis' on the side of the screen last night. I think it was possibly the most accurate polling/survey results you'll see. People basically want all the free shit and government safety net, but they don't like the consequences of those decisions.

I held my nose and voted for Zeldin in the end, and I know some progressive libdem folks who switched specifically for COVID-19 related reasons. Seeing how much worse Hochul did than Schumer and other statewide D’s it’s apparent that a lot of them switched but not enough.
I can’t say I’m especially surprised or disappointed. I didn’t trust Zeldin to care about principles on guns any more than he did on abortion. Really felt that a vote for him was a vote for a controlled elite opposition, but I’m still in New York and wasn’t prepared to give up my vote yet.
I’m more disappointed to see Shapiro win governor in PA, and in their senate shitshow with Fetterman vs Trump’s awful candidate Oz. Yes, it took a TV snake oil peddling Muslim who’s for transing kids with an antigun record to lose to a brain damaged woke exmayor who can’t understand or produce intelligible speech. Thanks Trump! Now go away.
On the plus side in Congress Molinaro won here though again he’s a Hudson Valley moderate who is weak on abortion and doesn’t stake out impressive positions on guns or immigration. But this is where we’re at.
I don’t trust any politician but Desantis is looking about as good as it gets on the national scene. JD Vance may be worth watching also.

A poll watcher is not one of the inspectors who get paid to be there. A poll watcher watches the inspectors. Have full rights to be behind the desk and look at the books and take notes, even recording names of who votes. A list of names of those who do vote is a valuable tool.

One could dream after this sad cycle that they would have a shake-up. That said Trump won the first time despite McCarthy and the turtle's leaderships (and one some say "won" the second time despite their continuing lack of support). And Trump, for all he did, was a deeply flawed candidate and president. One that was needed for the moment, despite his flaws, and was a breath of fresh air.
I'd rather not dox myself but yes, I agree, and I'm very familiar with that community.

Yeah, most people are. They want abortions but don't like people getting killed in the streets. Government handouts and bailouts for everything but inflation sucks. Gas is too expensive, but we must fight climate change. The president sucks, but I'm still pissed about the last one.
The GOP spinelessly tried pandering to the moderate and independent voters this time and it blew up in their fucking faces. They lost their base because they don't have any values. People need to decide what is important to them, grow a set of balls, and DON"T GIVE A FUCKING INCH!!!
The problem we are looking at now though, is the country shifted another degree off normal. It's not going back - this is the new centerline the pendulum is going to swing back and forth over. Unfortunately, they are going to keep chipping away. Every time it swings left, it's going to swing just a little further, and not come back as much to the right again.
Not sure how anyone had any hope for NY. It has been lost for a long time. Even if Zeldin won, what could he do with a democrat assembly and senate? I'm not interested in this slower death shit. People need to feel the pain they have caused themselves. Everybody that doesn't like it should cut their losses and GTFO, but wherever you go, you better actually fight to keep it this time.
