no way, the spirit of rebellion is dead in NYI think FFLs will start just selling ammo background checks be damned. That's my prediction.
I think we all know that will never, ever happen…. BUT Joe Random will try to get some .357 for his lever action Henry and pop up on the radar because he doesn’t have a pistol permit yet is obviously buying pistol ammo. I hope Joe’s yellow lab has a bulletproof vest.Mr Criminal now has to send someone to buy ammo. He send his squeeze to go to the store to get some 9mm but she is nit so smart and comes back with some 10mm as she got confused. Then they get screwed on no refunds on ammo.
However they get even more screwed when address used for the ammo is also in the parolee felon database where there should be no guns.
Then cross reference to pistol permits, no 9mm at that address.
I expect some action out of the system.
How many customers and employees working?I bought 800 rounds of 22LR, yesterday, it took about 10 minutes from start to finish
I was tempted to do the same. What did you put for serial number on the ammo? I am not sure about the alias name part. Not sure if that would include maiden name. And it has been 42 years since I used it.I’m a licensed FFL dealer and I have both my FFL and NYS dealers license. I ran an ammo background check on myself tonight (7:54 pm) to see how the system works. I am currently delayed . How is that even possible ? Is this a joke ? Think about that ..I can literally order cases of ammo from my distributors and have them shipped directly to my business but I get delayed to buy one box of 9mm ammo !?
This is disgusting
Our local gun club forwarded the members a copy of the form that ammo buyers are being asked to fill out.I was tempted to do the same. What did you put for serial number on the ammo? I am not sure about the alias name part. Not sure if that would include maiden name. And it has been 42 years since I used it.
I agree, it is disgusting!
Has anyone gone to a big box for ammo? Do they have a form cause there is not one anywhere that I can find. I am thinking it is log the info as it is still required and go from there. Asking the additional questions about military, name etc.
Here is the newest message on the sign in page.
An Interactive Voice Response (IVR) telephone solution is in the process of being implemented but will not be available until October. All National Instant Background Check ("NICS") transactions will need to be processed online.
Annnnd, I am having trouble getting beyond that page, again.
Thanks for the update. Sounds like there’s a bit of a hurdle to jump over on the FFL’s side, but it’s possible to complete a sale with an approval. I’m willing to bet $5 there will be changes and other obstacles in the first few months. The annoyance, oppression, overreach and infringements will last well beyond that, I have no doubt. Ugh.I tried for about 45 min to do a ammo bgc, lots of glitches. I fianlly went to Incognito on Chrome and got it done. I did not put my maiden name in, sorry, I have to think about what it even is now, 42 years is a long time.
Had to put in Social Security number, not optional.
Street address and occupation are both mandatory.
I feel sick to my stomach.
Ahhh they leased the ol' homestead 2 on skinwalker ranch!! no glitches on those servers will occur.......I tracked down the NYS NICS Hotline Headquarters. I took a picture of the place. I'm guessing you'll be on hold for awhile to get approval.

Use NYSNICS@NYS.gov if you want. It won’t matter. They’ll still have your SSN, ph, address, d.o.b. and short & curlies. So with the email address requirement...they dont actually send anything to it, right? Because if I purchase a gun I plan to use a made up one.
I will never u sweat and the occupation requirement. I still don’t for a pistol permit??I tried for about 45 min to do a ammo bgc, lots of glitches. ETA: I passed with "Congratulations"
Wait you need your email address now? Well I guess they have it already for the pistol permit renewal since I did mine today and I received a follow up email. So with the email address requirement...they dont actually send anything to it, right? Because if I purchase a gun I plan to use a made up one.
I saw a comment on Reddit where a FFL bought a box of .22 before he opened the shop for the day to see how the process would go. He wound up delayed 4 hours, and ultimately was denied. An FFL was denied to buy a box of .22. Let that sink in.So can anyone that tried to buy ammo tell us their first hand experience trying to buy yesterday and with system down.
Did you get it or refused to sell........
I may go tomorrow to buy some just to experience it myself...gotta get some cash though......no CC's
Can you link that here? I saw that JJ’s Armory, LLC had that same initial scenario on a Reddit sub, but he was ultimately approved after 4 hrs.I saw a comment on Reddit where a FFL bought a box of .22 before he opened the shop for the day to see how the process would go. Might be the same guy. I'll dig it up.Can you link that here? I saw that JJ’s Armory, LLC had that same initial scenario on a Reddit sub, but he was ultimately approved after 4 hrs.

Thats probably part of the plan. Keep delaying and denying. NICS can say yes but the NYSP can tell us no. Is there a way to appeal a denial by the NYSP?As of 330 today I’m still delayed.. I put in the check at at 754 pm last night..
What a joke , I’m a licensed FFL dealer with my state dealers license and I’ve had my pistol permit for over 30 years but I’m delayed to buy 1 box of 9mm..
