My cousin who is an erie county sheriff is looking for 9mm and 40 self defense ammo. She just got hired not too long ago. She dragged her feet a bit in getting her permit. I told her too. She just bought a gun and is looking to carry too and from work. She is the one who’s truck was vandalized while working at the jail. They make her get her own ammo for her service gun too. Well they don’t make her she just said it’s about near impossible to get them to give you the rounds. I said what a joke.

Clay at 9 am.
It's only 2 minutes from my house, I live off of Soule Rd.
There was nothing in the glass case, these were on the shelves to the right next to the 20 cases of clay pigeons.

I'm going to stop at Gander tomorrow as I have to get blood drawn tomorrow in Cicero after getting blood drawn at Upstate...I know, 1st world problems.

They are issued ammo. Winchester Ranger Bonded 180gr. .40 S&W. That is the only approved ammo they can use. If she is carrying something other than that, then she is not "covered" in the event of a shooting. They do not buy their own. In fact, I have a box of it right here.. I wonder where that came from... o_O

And why isn't she carrying her work gun to and from work? Something seems off here.

She’s stationed at the jail and she said they can’t take there gun off site unless it’s for assignment. Don’t know I don’t work there. She said they do give ammo but it’s been very hard to get lately so she was buying her own. She was picking up her work gun from blue tuna as I was speaking with her this week. I was thinking the same things out not using their assigned ammo. People do dumb things though. My dads a part time cop at a small municipality and he brought his own gun to qualify with. They took the serial number down and now he carried that on duty there. They took the gun they assigned him back since he can’t use it because he didn’t qualify. I told him not smart. Also at the wire county fair you carry your own gun. I saw a freind there and he had an HK and I asked him why? He said they don’t allow issues guns to be carried there. I’m assuming they are pushing liability off on the officers not the department.
She bought a ruger lc9 to take to and from work.

Wow. Assholes. Just got an email back from them after asking them to refund my order. This is part of their reply; "we have no quarrel with what our competitors do, but we find the safe act odious , offensive and socialistic and will stop doing business in N Y 3/1/21"
So I guess not even FFL sales in NY soon.

I am actually fine with this. Maybe if more do this, more Mayer's will wake up and realize the kind of world we live in, too many citizens still are clueless and ignorant!

Cabela's in Buffalo is pretty well stocked. I was just there returning something and saw a small line so I decided to wait and see what they had.
Lots of 9mm both FMJ and HP
Lots of 40, 45, 308, 5.56 and others. If you can get there today I would recommend it.

Seems to be more and more ammo becoming available. Interesting that it seems to have started coming back in stock merely a week or so after the presidential installation.

Oh, I guess there won't be a civil war. Might as well start shipping some of this back stock.

I've been meaning to check out The Firing Pin in Bergen and check the stores in that area for ammo, but that's a 2+ hour trip for me, one way. I would be mighty ticked to make the drive and return empty handed. I'm not that hard up for ammo but my shooting has definitely gone down the past few months.

You can bitch about the big box stores, but I haven't seen any that are asking really outrageous prices for ammo. But, it's New York state - and every day in business may be your last...just saying.

I just got back from Cabella's I picked up 5 boxes today too..... There was almost a full shelf still in stock. Maybe a good sign of things to come or just a fluke. BUT $.70 a round after tax - not too cool on that. At lease they have it in stock.

Thank you Chevusa for the heads up!

NO 22LR of 9mm if any are wondering
