Ummm, Amazon doesn't require signatures lol. They just leave the packages on the porch. Hoping it was free shipping for their sake.

Rule in our house. NEVER open the door for anyone we aren't expecting. NEVER. If I am home there is gun in hand until the Jehovah witnesses or solar sales guys leave. As far as UPS, we recognize our driver at this point.

A while back I had a delivery from Amazon where I had to provide a signature. It was for a high-value item. I think the shipper needed the signature when COVID was raging at the time.

Newburgh is a shit hole.

It's getting to be like a third world country. I was in Newburgh for work on Friday. While I was driving down by the waterfront - supposedly the nice part - I had some asshole in a 4 wheeler riding a wheelie up the street about 3 feet from my bumper. The dirt bikes and 4 wheelers were gearing up for evening activities.

The roads are shitty. The people are shitty. The cops don't go after criminals. And there's garbage everywhere.

I lived in a very low crime area then moved to where I am now in May '23 that is also a low crime area. Regardless of low crime where I live, I've been carrying most all the time over the past couple of years whether I'm inside the house or outside.

Getting up there in years, so as the ol' saying goes, too old to fight and too slow to run. Sux getting old/er

Even in decent areas, I have been approached and aggressively panhandled by sketchy people, - likely druggies or homeless types. Always want money. Some start out with urgent sob stories which I cut off immediately. Often at gas stations at night. I see them lurk off to the side, and once they see you pay the clerk, they will try to get near you as you exit. Pisses me the fuck off. And so I always have one hand on my EDC. My response is to always look them directly in the eye, with my naturally occurring scowling face, tell them “I have nothing for you” and the few that have gotten aggressive, - I’ve told to “back up” and kept going. So far, all have gotten the message at that point, and gone on to others In the store.

I am also starting to see instances of outright theft of food and drink, sometimes repeatedly.
