Some of us are aware of the Higbie v James lawsuit (1:24-cv-00174) filed by GOA (who I belong to, and that I donate to) against New Yorkistan over reciprocity issues. Specifically, NY's flat out refusal (same as CA, and some other anti 2A states) to allow non-NY residents to apply for and receive NY CCW licenses.
So, I saw a BS article in my newsfeed making like this was some new thing, and how it will likely result in SCOTUS granting National Reciprocity. Sure, sure....
And then I looked into it further. GOA filed it in February 2024. And looking at the scheduling horseshit, clearly, many of us will likely be dead and gone before anything is ever resolved on this after it gets dragged thru the various courts...
Here is the list of crap they have to get through just in the initial court case, from the Judge assigned to the case:
UNIFORM PRETRIAL SCHEDULING ORDER: Anticipated length of trial: 2 days, to be held at Albany NY. Outstanding Rule 26 Mandatory Disclosures to be exchanged by close of business 5/7/2024. Rule 33 and 34 Requests to be served by 5/24/2024. Joinder of Parties due by 7/1/2024. Amended Pleadings due by 7/1/2024. Plaintiffs Expert Disclosure Deadline is 8/9/2024. Defendants Expert Disclosure Deadline is 9/23/2024. Rebuttal Expert Disclosure Deadline is 10/8/2024. Discovery due by 11/7/2024. Discovery Motions due 11/21/2024. What a fucking pile of absolute horseshit! Justice delayed truly is justice denied. In my own case, just a month or so ago, I was finally able to settle two legal cases back in NY against me that began in....2009. FIFTEEN Fucking years! Mere words will never be able to express my complete and total level of disgust with our legal system.
