i really want to practice drawing and target acuisition times, follow up shots, etc.

I’m thinking of a SIRT gun but they don’t have the 365. Dry fire mag doesn’t have the 365 mags either. Not sure why as it’s the most popular self defense gun many years running now.

I waited a few years before they came out with the M&P model. Main reason I wanted the same grip angle ( M&P has a 1911 angled grip ) The compact model may not be a 365 but could still work for you.

My projector based setup. Been so long, I don't even remember the details. I know I used an android app called crackshot.

I have a 70 year old Crossman Pump actuated pellet gun that that my Uncle gave me, it still works like a champ and still keeps me on target with every hand gun I have, CF and RF, right in the comfort of my own home.

AR15.com (ARFCOM) has had a virtual league for a few months.. I had some gift cards from Christmas and decided to jump in. It is a BIG investment - about the total cost of a new handgun and case of ammo -

  • Meta Quest 3 - ~$500 (3s available for $300 but lower quality display)
  • ACE handset (you put controller in and has the weight and feel of a real gun - I picked up the 365 Macro version) - $200
  • Aftermarket headband for more comfort and battery life (no needed, but I was getting headaches after 30 mins with original) - one I got was $50
  • ~$50 for holster, waiting for this to be in stock. (because of where the Quest controller sits, most normal holsters probably wouldn't work)
  • Unfortunately requires a subscription to use the service.. think it's $19/mo or $120 or so annually. However after trying it for about 2 hours yesterday I can verify this is a GAME CHANGER and so much fun.

I don't have much space to do actual movement in my rooms, but there are plenty of stationary drills. I've never shot a Texas Star before, but now I have enough practice on one that I'd feel confident. There are "Shoot, No Shoot" drills (3 doors open with cardboard targets, only one has a weapon). I even joined a few people from ARFCOM in a voice channel and virtual range time - we took turns doing different drills and it has a leaderboard. We did the "Briefcase Drill" from Collateral ("Yo homie, is that my briefcase?"), and several others.

Some people have 3D-printed their own handset instead of buying the $200 one (filling empty spaces with leadshot to add weight) - I can say that the official one feels really good and is high quality. There are some 10% discount codes floating around which help. Still seems expensive but they're made in Texas, I believe by Veterans..

EDIT: Obviously the one thing it can't replicate is real life recoil. It seems to do a decent job with movement, you still need to reacquire the dot and all.

Good to know. The subscription is keeping me from trying it. I like how there gun holder appears to operate, better than anything else out there.
