The day this thread was started: two people regularly invest--one in bitcoin, one in SP500. The equities investor out ahead.

If you bought 33500 worth of gold in feb 2021 the price per ounce was 1850

you would have bought 18 ounces of gold .

18 ounce of gold today at 4600 per ounce is 82,000

a profit of 49300 so far,

Vavrious banks targets for gold in Jan 2027 are potentially 6K for a total of 108K and 73K profit

In February 2021, the price of silver $26.23

for 33500 you could have bought 1288 ounces of silver

today silver is at 70 per ounce X 26 = 90K for a profit of 56500.

As of mid-2026, approximately 960,000 to 1.2 million Bitcoins remain to be mined.

Bitcoin has a fixed maximum supply of 21 million coins, a limit hard-coded into its protocol by Satoshi Nakamoto to ensure scarcity and prevent inflation As of 2026, over 20 million BTC have already been mined, meaning more than 95% of all Bitcoins that will ever exist are already in circulation Estimates vary slightly depending on the source, with figures ranging from 939,000 to 1.2 million BTC left to mine

New Bitcoins are created as a reward for miners each time a block is added to the blockchain. This reward is halved approximately every four years, a process known as the halving, which gradually slows the rate of new Bitcoin issuance .Because of this mechanism, the remaining Bitcoins will be mined very slowly over the next century, with the last Bitcoin expected around the year 2140

Mining Schedule and Halving

New Bitcoins are created as a reward for miners each time a block is added to the blockchain. This reward is halved approximately every four years, a process known as the halving, which gradually slows the rate of new Bitcoin issuance Because of this mechanism, the remaining Bitcoins will be mined very slowly over the next century, with the last Bitcoin expected around the year 2140

Lost Bitcoins

It is important to note that a significant number of Bitcoins are permanently lost, estimated between 2.3 million and 3.7 million coins, due to lost private keys or inaccessible wallets This reduces the effective supply available for trading or spending, making the remaining mineable Bitcoins even more valuable.

Summary

  • Total supply cap: 21 million BTC
  • Mined so far: ~20 million BTC
  • Remaining to mine: ~960,000–1.2 million BTC
  • Expected last Bitcoin mined: ~2140
  • Lost coins: 2.3–3.7 million BTC
The scarcity of Bitcoin, combined with the halving schedule and lost coins, ensures that the remaining supply will continue to be released gradually, supporting its long-term value and rarity

Im not an expert in crypto, but I have to ask , why would I want to put money into bitcoin when theres so little left? In other words , once bitcoin is at or near its all time high, why buy it when there is little chance it will go up ? Say it capped at 250K. whos going to buy it and why?

An okay read. https://www.investopedia.com/tech/what-happens-bitcoin-after-21-million-mined/

I have had, IMO, some astonishing crypto currency gains in past several weeks. Checking CoinBase right after my eyes open past few days. Tokenization allows for 24/7/365 trading, no more 9:30 bell, agentic (AI) trading will assist humans with this. If you want to then check out the performance of ZCash/USD also listed as ZEC/USD. This last run has been Breathtaking!:hookah:

After 5 yrs of trying to figure it out I still haven't! Hot wallets, cold wallets, decentralized this or that, defi, staking the list goes on. I jumped in one day and bought a token that would pay me staking rewards, like interest and it has grown. Always following the 1st rule of investing in that you never invest more than you can afford to lose. Buying here and there and then more regularly but never more than a moderate golf habit would be for a year. By doing so along with rewards I amassed 10's of K of a major token and millions of a collateral token. Was recently 'airdropped" 7k of NIGHT another privacy token at no cost. Lots of growth potential there. Picked up some ZEC along the way just a few, dammit!

Taken me awhile to sorta feel comfortable with this investment strategy. Would be great for my tokens to pop sure could do with a few cruises. But am more concerned recently with how to pass this on to my heirs not so easy with private keys and such. Any way I am not an advisor and this is not advise. Just speculative investing in this technology.

Cool, go back a couple years further and see what it looks like.

Guessing which strategy is going to win by this time next year is a fools errand.

I certainly wouldn't bet the farm on it, but I did buy some bitcoin to play with years ago, and if I'd dumped my 401k money there instead of a fund, lets just say I wouldn't need to ask "how much does it cost" for anything anymore.

$100 invested in bitcoin at its start and you're in a yacht now, but those days are behind us.

Coming next… digital dollars for the people. Stablecoins - tied to US Treasuries. Treasuries are tied to the U.S. dollar , also Federal Reserve Note - a debt instrument. What backs that federal reserve note? NOTHING.

1st time ever doing this so man was I wooried! I transfered 5.2 ZEC tokens from my Ledger hardware wallet to Coinbase then to Gemini, the move to Coinbase was a error only needed Gemini. From Gemini I will be able to sell the tokens for USD. This AM's price is $1526.71 per token, always changing. Gonna put a couple of tokens up for sale and see how that works then keep moving the rest. The proceeds from this tranche will recoop all $$$ invested in crypto so far and still leave me a bit of change. WOOWOOWOO!!! GOOD MORNING VIET NAM!!! :hookah:

Just completed my 1st crypto swap. I swapped .01 ETH for 12,500 ANVL. With all the keys to that currency stored offline in a hardware wallet. Ooh so much to learn!! :hookah:

I understand the concerns of the Bitcoin fans but as long as crap like this can happen it will never become a widely used currency.
