Last year my sister got her premises permit but had never fired a gun....ever....at 58 years old.
So she came out to my house to try a few guns. She was a beast, she fired everything from 22lr to 44 magnum.
While we were going up the caliber line, she fired a couple 9mm and liked the feel. Then came the glock 20.
Being the good brother, I loaded it with Underwood 220 grain hard nose. She literally said, "oh, its only one mm more than the 9mm, no problem".
Again, like a good brother, I said, "yep".
She asked why it was so much heavier than the glock 19. I just shrugged. She fired it, looked at me with her eye pro crooked on her face and said, "what the fuck!!!"
Had a friend that got into reloading and was shooting a 357, handed it to me to shoot, saying they are pretty hot! I was taught the old one hand turn sideways stance and rapid fired single action with his Ruger security6 . Gave it back and said nice load but here try my model 29, they might be a little hot too.

Apparently shes the typical clueless moron in NYS. (She's really not, but this is funny)
Today we were talking about her permit. I asked if she has done a recertification yet. She says, "what's that?".....ugg.
I asked her when she got her premises permit. She says, "what's a premises permit?"....double ugg.
She told me she got it sometime in 2023. I told her to go get her permit. As shes walking down the hallway with her permit, she says, "this says "license to carry pistol".
I said, I thought you got your premises permit. She says, "I don't know the difference".
I asked if she took a 16 hour course.
She says, "I dont think so, it was just a few hours I believe."
Then I asked her when she took this course.
She said it was around November of 2022. Then she told me that Jim, the Chautauqua Co Sheriff told her to get her permit before it gets much more difficult. He is a friend of our family.
I looked at her permit and it was issued in March of 2023, and its absolutely a carry permit!!
She must have got in just in time before the CCIA kicked in.
Then the issue was that she had not recertified in 3 years, 5 months. She asked me if she was screwed. I told her to just go to the recertification website to find out.
But she decided to call our local permit office. The kind lady said, nope, you're fine, just go to the NYSP website and recertify.
She put in her information, absolutely no problem, her next recert is in August of 2029!
