Well ain’t that some shit. I strangely had no idea that they reintroduced the 586 with the Hillary hole, and with a 7 shot cylinder to boot !

You can get a new 586 yes, or at least they list it on the website, but only in a 6 shot. I would like to see a 7 shot 586. The L Comp basically is just that but is a Performance Center model with a Performance Center price.
I would also like to see Safariland get with the times and offer 7 shot Comp loaders.
And/or the return of thr SL Variant loaders.
And while I'm at it I'd also like a pony..........made out of Korth Classic revolvers.........that speaks German............. that I'd have star in a bizarre reboot of the Mr Ed show. Is that so much to ask?

I also wonder what a 4 inch barrel does to muzzle velocity on a 45/70.Getting attacked by the grizzly might hurt less than shooting that.
By the time you have 2.5 inch OAL, that only leaves 1.5 inches of barrel to actually burn the powder in.

I have a P365 Micro as my daily, but also just bought a S&W 351 PD. Soon as it was placed in my hands, I bought it on the spot! Feels great in the hands and light as a feather compared to my micro.

I belive that in Texas that setup would fulfill the role of a BBQ gun quite nicely.
Very, very classy combo you have there, I am quite jealous. I have come to admire the proportions of the 3" service style revolver.
I revisited this thread as I had an amusing occurrence earlier today. I had been running errands and ran across a work buddy of mine and he mentioned that he had just started carrying himself and I mentioned I had my 340 in my pocket. We were near his home which is in a rural location so we had an impromptu plinking session. I only had 10 rounds of carry ammo on me which I was loathe to shoot but my buddy had a few boxes of .357 magnum that he let me draw from. He did not enjoy the little S&W at all, in fact 5 rounds was all he wanted to shoot. I myself went through about 20 rounds and after finding my hold under (.357 magnums shoot very high from my gun) I had little difficulty in laying wast to the soda cans we set out.
I did shoot 5 rounds of my carry ammo, those 125gr Golden Saber .38s which my buddy found more manageable. I will say that load shoots beautifully from that little revolver, I reckon getting solid hits from as far as 20 yards with that load would be perfectly doable. In fact I can still say that the 340 PD, to me, IS in fact fun to shoot and the entertainment value of watching the unsuspecting light off magnum loads is very high as well. In my own defense I did warn my friend that the little gun would be a handful........ I still don't find it to be quite as bad as everyone says, if .357s didn't shoot so ridiculously high I'd be carrying them actually.
Well it is a belly gun (belly button to belly button distance) so you really shouldn’t have to worry about how high it shoots.
Same with my micro nine. I practice at 10 yards but don’t expect to ever use it past 3 feet.
I'd still prefer my POA and POI to be similar. At 10 yards .357 magnums print such that to hit center torso I'd have to aim at the belly. That is a pretty extreme difference. The gun is capable of good accuracy and I think I could get the job done at distance beyond what is typically expected of snub nose. I'll experiment with other .357 loads. So far I have used heavier pills, 148gr and 158gr. Maybe with lighter bullets such as the classic 125gr the POI would be lower.
I'm pretty impressed with what this feather weight pocket gun can achieve honestly. Even the sights are pretty good, the green fiber optic front post really pops and is fast to pick up as well as being easy to align in the rear trench.
It's a good gun and I like it.

There's nothing inherently mechanically inaccurate about snubbies. They can very accurate. The limiting factors are pretty much the short sight radius and the long, heavy trigger making them harder for the shooter to be accurate.
As for your high POI with heavy bullets, that's normal. The lighter the bullet, the lower the POI, and vice-versa. For my 642, 110gr +Ps and 125gr standard pressure hit to pretty similar POI. Then I load up 158gr +P Buffalo Bores and it's like you said with yours, the POI is like a foot over POA at like 15 yards. That difference is the main reason I shot all those up in favor of the 110gr +P Hornady Critical Defense.
I'd like to run some 125gr magnums out of the 340 and if they shoot close to PoA I'm inclined to carry the magnums.
That said I'd also like to see some ballistic tests of the 125gr Golden Saber .38s from a 2" barrel as well. I'm impressed with that loads performance in terms of how they shoot so given adequate penetration and expansion there is little reason not to stick with them.
I have become adept at rapidly staging the double action trigger as well, I can do it quickly and without focusing on it at this point so deliberate fire for precision isn't too much of a problem even with the long and heavy pull. I spend a large amount of time dry firing, some people fiddle with fidget spinners, I dry fire guns. Must be hundreds of pulls on the 340 by now. It's the reloads I find to be more cumbersome, still working on that. Particularly on the 340 as it is hard to get clearance between the frame and the speed loader.

Colt just unveiled a blued new model Python. Looks like the same deep and lustrous Deep Royal Blue the original Python had. Very tempting.

Is the Python frame more similar in size to a S&W K frame or an L frame? I'm wondering about the possibility of a 7 shot Python.
Also how does the lockup of the Python compare to other revolvers? Specifically does it really matter that Colts have only one locking point, at the rear of the cylinder, compared to the multi-point lockup of other designs? Granted S&W's ball detent on the ejection rod doesn't likely add any strength to the system.

Blue looks ok, but hard to tell with all the finger prints and smudges on the. More black than blue.
I actually prefer a more black than blue.
Either way it's seems better than S&W's blue and also even far better than some of the bluing jobs on SOME of Colt's 1911s.

I Was never really fond of the Python grips myself. Thank god there are some excellent aftermarket grip makers out there.

It’s a personal preference really. I don’t like how they fit / feel in my hand. They’re too chunky feeling for my taste.
Brought the little monster out today along with my now extremely nice Volquartsenized Ruger Mk IV. I hadn't planned on shooting the 340 much but I ended up enjoying it so much I ran through all 100 rounds that I brought. 148gr Magtec wadcutters.
I think those are pretty damn decent groups for a snubbie at 10 yards.
