Yeah…Brown get down, black fight back, white goodnight.Moose are MUCH more dangerous, and cause MANY more injuries than bears. But bears still win in the kill your ass category. Moose are angry beasts. But if you give up completely, they will GENERALLY leave you alone. Brown bears and especially black bears will kill you dead just because they...um...have their reasons.
Im sure you've heard the saying, "play dead with a brown bear, fight a black bear". That is very good advice which USUALLY works out. Brown bears want you neutralized, black bears want to eat you.
Just hope you dont meet a polar bear. They have no drawbacks, and the only way to stay safe is to stay away. Polars see you as a threat, and food 99.9% of the time. They will actively hunt you down just to kill you....very unpredictable.
Maybe the most unpredictable animals ive ever dealt with. Ive seen very docile moose who allow people to pet them. And ive seen the "destroy on sight" moose.Yeah…Brown get down, black fight back, white goodnight.
The time we lived in Montana my kids had two school delays…never for snow. Once an eagle dropped a baby deer on the power lines and the other was a bull moose on the playground. Montana things…
All of my pistols are 9mm, I’ve been needing and meaning to get a .45 or something similar for the past year or so… seems like the 9 will basically be carrying a rock and you throw the rock and say “please stop” hahaMoose scares me way more than Grizzlies.
9mm is certainly not ideal but if it’s all you have a heavy flat nose +p is a must. I used to keep a mag of Buffalo Bore 9mm +p Outdoorsman in my truck just in case I stoped for a hike and didn’t run home to grab a bigger caliber gun.
10mm was always my choice, I just shot 10mm better vs .44. I’d carry a mag of Buffalo Bore Heavy Outdoorsman hardcast in the mountains and switch out to JHP in town. My mountain gun…

If your weapons aren't accessible, and you don't stop for anything more than gas you can cross IL perfectly legally.Theoretically
I have to check out this Illinois thing that was mentioned. Just not sure why they wouldn’t legally allow me to go through.
Yea, polar bears are one of the few animals left that actually view humans as prey and not just a threat to be dealt with.Moose are MUCH more dangerous, and cause MANY more injuries than bears. Many outdoors people and guides are switching from 44 mag and 454 Casull to 10mm up in bear country.
A 200 grain hard cast 10mm round has proven again and again it can punch through to vital organs almost anywhere you hit the bear. 9mm absolutely cannot do this, ive seen it first hand several times. When you hear about a 1000 pound brown being killed by 9mm or 45acp, its either because of extreme proficiency under extreme pressure, or dumb luck....there is not a third option....in my experience.
If I lived out there, I think my woods carry gun would be a BFR in 45/70 loaded with some solids.Yeah…Brown get down, black fight back, white goodnight.

I want to SBR a Henry Bears Leg in .45/70 and carry it in a leg holster like Steve McQueen. If I lived out there, I think my woods carry gun would be a BFR in 45/70 loaded with some solids.
In fact, I think visiting Montana would be the perfect excuse for me to pick one up...
I was being sarcastic. It was KentuckyWeren't you denied an ammo sale because they ID'd you as from NY? I think Pa.

To be fair, it was Bud's. LGS probably would have given you the ammo for free, out of pity.I was being sarcastic. It was Kentucky
Stuff is expensive, but cheaper than buying another gun: 9mm Luger (+P) And (+P+) Pistol & Handgun AmmunitionAll of my pistols are 9mm, I’ve been needing and meaning to get a .45 or something similar for the past year or so… seems like the 9 will basically be carrying a rock and you throw the rock and say “please stop” haha
This is the one I carried before I had a 10mm and when I was too lazy to go home and swap guns…proven to kill a grizzly.Stuff is expensive, but cheaper than buying another gun: 9mm Luger (+P) And (+P+) Pistol & Handgun Ammunition
I've got a .35 caliber Air Rifle suitable for hunting big game: ballistics are about the same for a .38 special...think about it.
My folks have alot of bears around them in the Hunter Mountain area, and I have them near me too. I just went online to buy some bear spray and amazon wont ship it here (I already figured that, but wanted to try).Get some bear spray.

I would LOVE to hear how you get from Illinois to Minnesota without going through either Iowa or Wisconsin. Does your car have flight ability ? Perhaps a ferry ? Maybe you're going to teleport ? Please explain. I'll wait.Theoretically

Holy shit nothing gets passed you, Batman. Good catch! You’ve busted me.I would LOVE to hear how you get from Illinois to Minnesota without going through either Iowa or Wisconsin. Does your car have flight ability ? Perhaps a ferry ? Maybe you're going to teleport ? Please explain. I'll wait.
What about duty to inform states?I have been traveling all across the country for the last 5 years. I live full time in a RV. we don't own a home.
Here is my advice:
make sure every light on your car/truck/RV works, including marker lights ( if you have any ) and even the license plate light.
DO NOT SPEED, unless you feel lucky.
Keep your firearms and ammo OUT OF SIGHT.......and anything else that might raise suspicion
if you get pulled over, YOU DO NOT ALLOW SEARCHES OF YOUR PERSON OR YOUR VEHILCE. ( if asked )
Long guns are fine, hand guns are the problem. Follow federal law, and you should be fine.
First of all, it's PAST, not PASSED.Holy shit nothing gets passed you, Batman. Good catch! You’ve busted me.
TLDR, Blah blah. Listen, boomer, when I type Glacier NP into my Apple Maps it’ll take me there. No one uses AI to get to their destination. I’m sorry you’re so miserable that all you have to contribute is correcting errors… next time I’ll make sure to pull out a map, plot my route, shoot my azimuth, and use my compass to please you.First of all, it's PAST, not PASSED.
PAST refers to a time prior to the present or is used to express previous experiences or activities. It has other closely related meanings as well. "He worked as a sailor in years past" "Past President" etc.
PASSED refers to the action of overtaking, transferring, or the approval of an action. It too has several other closely related meanings. "He passed the basket to her." "The motorcycle passed the slow-ass camping in the left lane." "The motion passed." etc.
The word you should have used is some form of OVERLOOKED. It would have been much more appropriate.
Next, I wish to point out that it has nothing to do with "busting" you. I fully realize that they quit teaching geography many years ago. I also understand that English and Grammar are no longer taught well.
Feeding your desired destination into your google machine seems simple enough, but AI is frequently wrong and/or completely fabricates answers.
Sorry to have added a few hundred miles and several hours to your drive, as well as blowing your fuel budget and having to research yet another State's laws to which you must comply.
Lastly, what does BATMAN have to do with this ?
Don't give them any ideas...Ill let you borrow this.
Don't trust your apple maps *that* much...TLDR, Blah blah. Listen, boomer, when I type Glacier NP into my Apple Maps it’ll take me there. No one uses AI to get to their destination. I’m sorry you’re so miserable that all you have to contribute is correcting errors… next time I’ll make sure to pull out a map, plot my route, shoot my azimuth, and use my compass to please you.
I know that it’s about a 31 hour drive, 2,200 miles give or take (go ahead, correct me on that while you’re at it, I’ll give you something else to bitch about). But hey, if we are correcting, why are you spacing out your question mark? It’s akwswully suppose to be like this -? Not this ? Why are you double to triple spacing after your periods?
Lighten up, Francis.

My philosophy is if they can’t respect how I identify and dress they don’t deserve my money. If I can avoid the discrimination zones I do. I turn down work in those areas all the time and explain to the clients I don’t feel safe.I’d avoid IL. It legal to do what you are saying, but is it worth it? Legal only works if the cop knows or cares what the law is. It’s just not worth the hassle IMO.
Don’t get pulled over. What about duty to inform states?
that is entirely up to you. If I am NOT wearing a firearm, and its locked and secured, and no one has crashed into me, I keep my mouth shut. What about duty to inform states?
