The shitstorm in Canada is really exploding right now. Since the deadline to register your "assault weapon" so that it could be confiscated, uh, I mean "bought back", has come and gone, the courts have stepped in. CCFR is one organization you can look up for accurate info, as well as Runkle of the bailey. Right now Ottawa is having real problems keeping this confiscation campaign from becoming a bloody mess. The midwest provinces are all flat out refusing to comply, and the citizens won't let it happen. Most, but certainly not all police agencies have refused to participate in the program. Ottawa says they are going to rely on retired and off duty volunteers... I certainly wouldn't want to be the person to knock on a door and demand a gun from someone knowing that there wasn't another neighbor living close enough to hear a gunshot. People living out there might just have the means to make you and the car you came in disappear.
