The Presidency Matters Far Too Much | National Review
The office’s outsized importance is immensely harmful to our national life — and not at all what our Founders intended.

Spicer is right. I hope Trump doesn't come off pompous or get ahead of himself when he speaks.

Just received this email:
My wife just pulled herself away from the TV to bring our fast asleep daughter upstairs to bed and I'm sitting here feeling sick to my stomach.
I am so ready to be sure, to plan for a future where my family is protected, and safe. I know so many of us are feeling that way -- to know that communities won’t have to face racist attacks, immigration raids and violence.
We are ready to begin campaigning for all the things that were impossible for the past four years -- a sane climate policy, trans rights, expanded immigration, police reform....
But instead we are still in it, in the muck, the fight, the scary uncertainty of a contested election. There is a lot we don't know about tomorrow, but there are also things we do know and we can do.
And then we prepare to fight for a transition of power, to push for peace in our streets, to stand up to terrorism, violence, intimidation and corruption. The SumOfUs team will be sending emails in the next few days with ways to make sure we are impactful as a whole community.
And together, I know we can get through this week, these next months of a waning Trump Presidency, and the new era that we hope Biden/Harris will bring.
With hope and determination,
Emma and the SumOfUs team

- We can show up, safely, with masks, to protect the results and make sure votes are counted, certified and the right result is upheld. Click here to find your local gathering.
- We can call our Secretaries of State to urge them to count every vote, and to support them in the tough job of certifying results even when foreign interference and disinformation is trying to make it all seem fake, uncertain and unknowable. Click here to find your Secretary of State's number.
- We can call on platforms like Facebook and Twitter to make sure that they aren’t used by domestic terrorists and fake news sites to undermine a peaceful and fair election outcome.

They can bitch all they want. But violence is a no go. Speech is protected. Violence isn't.
