Britons have been ordered to remove air conditioning from their homes - despite the country baking in up to 40C heat this week - under a fresh Net Zero crackdown.
Planning officials at councils have told residents to take down their cooling units over concerns about carbon dioxide emissions.
They say AC, despite the heat, should serve only as a "last resort".
The crackdown comes from building regulations which demand "active cooling" is used only after all "passive cooling" methods, like opening windows or running fans, have been exhausted.

For those who don't get out much, the US has many advantages over much of the planet. Why do you think these world cup fans rave about A/C in every shop, small restaurant, and rental in our homeland. In London for example, only 1 in 20 (maybe 1 in 10 max by now) homes or so even have A/C.

Modern hotels and businesses in British cities have A/C but smaller or older establishments do not.

It's pretty much like the US was in the 50s and 60s and death from heat stroke in the cities is more common than it should be during heat waves reaching 100 degrees (about the 40 degrees C they mention in the post)

Tis is just liberal Brit politicians virtue signaling. It won't dent a problem and their supporters could care less since they don't have A/C. I doubt NY will ban A/C, our electrical use is a huge source of revenue for the State and those who leech or skim off it.

Death from lack of AC is more common in Europe than death from gun related violence is here. But you'll never hear about that on the news.

Here is the current death total that is being reported, that is certainly going to rise the Longer this continues and as they find additional bodies over time.

I believe I've seen in the past heat waves in Europe kill well into the tens of thousands, like a shockingly high number for "advanced civilized society"
