Fantastic quality leather holsters at ridiculously low prices.

A few years ago I was looking for a cheap holster to carry my GP100 around the property.
On ebay I found a guy in Myrtle Beach SC who hand makes all kinds of holsters, belts valet trays....
The holster I ordered was $30, I wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised.
I have leather from DeSantis, Galco, and a few custom makers, but none of them are as good as this guys work....period.
I got this holster about 4 years ago so the prices are a bit higher now, but less than most other makers.
Just today I recieved a gun belt from him, it cost $34 delivered. It is absolutely better than the other MUCH more expensive belts I've bought. I almost never suggest a product because everyone has their own opinions and this kind of thing can end up in an argument. Gun guys are pretty loyal to their favorite products.
Anyways, I have no idea who this guy is, but the two products of his I own are absolutely exceptional. The company is called Braids Holsters.

There were some Amish (possibly Mennonite) folks that came up from PA to do the Syracuse Gun Show: they had the best handmade Leather works I've ever seen! They were selling Slings, Belts, and other Leather works, sold Bird Houses too...they literally sold out on Saturday, which was fine as they packed up Saturday evening NO SUNDAY SALES...they never came back, which is too bad as I'd drop some serious coin on them.

Years ago my Brother made Holsters just like that one, molded to the gun, hand sewn, and finished....he had talent, but no ambition.

A neighbor of my Grandparents was a leather worker, I wish I asked to apprentice under him but didn't. I remember many a weekends watching my Grandfather weave baskets and the neighbor making leather things. I am honored to have a pack basket my Grandfather made and it has leather straps made by the neighbor

His stuff looks nice.

I think I'm going to order a belt.

There's a Tandy Leather Store in Syracuse and I've bought a few things from them, but haven't devoted any time to complete the projects...
I think you have to have some artistic talent, or at least inspiration. of which I have none.

Perfect timing. Need a belt and will be ordering tomorrow.

Free delivery and made it to me in WNY in 3 days. You seriously cannot get a decent non gun belt for $34 anymore.
In fact, last year I bought a Carhartt belt from Runnings, it cost $40. It's thin and weak, but I'm particular about my belt buckles, and the Carhartt was the only one available with a good buckle. I have used it exactly 2x. It does not have a changeable buckle like this Braids does.
My usual belt prior to buying this Braids belt, was an Alien Gear belt, bought before they changed their name to Bigfoot Belts.
It's a great belt, but its TOO stiff. It has a metal core which is unnecessary IMO.
This Braids is perfect.....IMO.
And I carry either a Glock 20, or a 3 inch GP100....both heavy guns.

There used to be an Amish leather maker that came to the gun show in Buffalo as well. I’m not sure they come anymore but they had some nice stuff as well. I’d like to find an Amish maker that makes custom boots. I hate buying shoes I have wide flat feet and it’s a nightmare finding a fit for me outside of Keens these days.

I struck up a conversation with one of the dads at my kids' dojo probably 17-18 years ago, He was retired LE and made holsters, etc. as his new gig. I had him make me a gorgeous leftie, molded IWB holster for my J frame snubbies. I believe I paid 45-50 bucks for it back then and still use it. I don't recall his name, but his wife was hot.
I will definitely look into Braids products. They look terrific and well priced. Thanks for posting.

I know a guy.
He is a local Tack maker(horse bridles, reins, saddles...).
He also makes boots, chaps....and almost anything you want out of leather.
His name is Hamish Miller, he lives in Harmony NY, about 1 mile from my house.
I will get his phone number. He is Swartzentruber Amish, but does have an answering service so he can call you back.
Most things are custom order with like a 4 week wait, but he does good work.
I have a saddle and several other pieces of tack from him.
But, he aint cheap!

Thank you and I want the number for sure. Any idea on pricing? Anything any sort of reasonable for pricing I’d be fine with and I expect to pay a few hundred bucks for them. A 4-week wait is fine with me. I’ve asked a few guys around here but no one does shoes/boots. I just have to get down there to get measured. I just want some good hikers that are like 4.5” high. I don’t need or want anything fancy just something that will last and actually fits me. Shoes these days are junk and have no support at all

We have a lot of those Mennonite people near me. One of the Leather workers will make anything that you can dream of.

Awesome prices.

Might have been this guy: Tauris Holsters, L.L.C. - Custom Leather
He's been doing the big Shows across the State as long as I can remember.
Not positive it's the same guy, he pulls an enclosed single axle trailer painted Black with a silver Bull decal on the sides and "Taurus" (sp) in the same silver lettering.

Nope, sorry! This guy lived in Irondequoit as I recall.

I have a Braids IWB that I use for my S&W 40 Shield. It is lightweight leather and conforms to the gun perfectly and fits tight. I have carried with it hundreds of times. Forget how much I paid, but it wasn't overly expensive. I paid much more for my Rounded Gear Kydex IWB holster I carry my Hellcat pro in.

Just arrived. Maybe 3 days. Looks good so far.....

[urjustamemory]

The photos of the belts make me want to see if he can meet up locally or see if he has a shop.

[Parzival]

Wish he had a belt I could use my own buckle on. They look nice.

[masterswimmer]

Just ordered. $36 all in.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Several years ago I called that guy from Tauris holsters and asked if I could meet up and discuss a fitted CC holster. He was in New Hartford, outside of Utica. Never happened, and as he told me, he was "at the end of the trail." Nice guy, don't know if he's still around, but he did have quite the reputation for quality work.

The buckles are removable.
You can use any buckle you want.

Thanks, just ordered. $34 shipped is like a sore pecker…can’t beat it.

The only issue I see with this belt is the way the buckle is connected is with the Kydex holster type screws, I believe they are called Chicago screws. The female part pushes through the back, the male part screws in.
I put a dab of blue thread locker on the 2 screws....like I do with holsters. Probably not necessary, but easy enough to do.
Other than that, it's made well and perfectly stiff....in my opinion.

Nice!
This guy is gonna wonder where all the orders are coming from.
I like spreading the word when a small business is doing things right.
