First it said "valid until revoked". Now it's valid for the next 5 years. In a few years it'll be valid for 3 years, then 1, then 6 months, then 3 months. I guess I never read anything before about then stapling confiscation of long guns to handguns. How convenient of them. Oh, next they'll add ammo, reloading equipment, optics, safes, cases, holsters, hunting knives, kitchen knives, spoons, plates, and napkins....all in the name of safety. I don't know how we let a fuck face like Cuomo chase us from our home and Rob our lives with taxes. Thus fucker needs to go.

I really hope there is a low turn around for re certifications and/or the new "database" crashes and dies on its own. Registration was attempted in Canada and the public gave the middle finger to the state, the Canadian government then chose to just scrap the registration requirement. Are we the only subjects in the country that have our handguns serial numbers registered with the Gestapo? Once I get my pistol license I'm considering not buying any handguns until escaping the gulag. It is none of their damn business what I decide to buy and living on the Island we already have a "renewal" every 5 years + a poll tax for every renewal ($10 for Suffolk and $200 for Nassau).
The only things I'd freely offer would be the bullets.

am I missing something? nothing says you have to keep your long guns in the same safe (or house) as your handguns? If the Emperors Goon squad comes for my handguns, Im not going to lose ALL my guns because some government bureaucrat gets a hardon to start confiscating handguns.

And I shouldn't have to have multiple safes and play hide and seek or any other games to protect my long guns from possible confiscation.

Just the fact alone that a judge can revoke a pistol permit on a whim. I no longer feel comfortable applying for one. Due to the fact of Cuomo's NY UNSAFE Act it could possibly put my long gun collection in jeopardy also ... A lifetime worth, I still have my first gun from 40 years ago and I don't want to give the NYSP any reason to possibly getting their claws on them.

Sadly that seems to be the theme here in NY especially since January of 2013... It sucks, but I hear ya.
I was going to apply for a PP until Coumo's NY UNSAFE act happened. When I found out that a revocation of a PP would also put all of my other guns at risk I just thought no way. I'll just wait until I move out of state in a couple of years.

Lets say that someone has 2 gun safes and they are both in plain sight. The authorities come to confiscate the handguns
because of a failure to renew a PP or whatever. One safe is opened and all of the handguns registered on said PP are accounted for. Do you think that the authorities are going to say, were good... Or would they press to have the other safe opened up also. After all, the NY UNSAFE Act stipulates that all guns are to be confiscated when a PP is revoked... Just asking.
I think that the authorities would be very thorough in finding out if there are anymore guns in your possession.
And remember if the cops get the sense that you are lying it really sets of their predator vs prey instinct.
For me it just isn't worth the hassle, If I lived in a high crime area that might change my opinion.
But then again, what good would that do if I had the usual restrictions of Range/Hunting.
That brings us right back to the "do what you got to do" doesn't it.

I would advise you to never assume you do not live in a high crime area. Criminals are mobile and no neighborhood is crime free any more. Especially with New York's out of control epidemic of drugs and thugs. Statistically, I live in one of the lowest crime neighborhoods but after a thwarted violent home invasion learned that stats are fudged low in many areas, and if there is no arrest or injuries there is likely no reporting in any media. Do what you have to do .... to not be a victim. Screw FUAC, do what should be done to protect your home and family now in terms of mindset, training, behaviors, security monitoring, planning, and self defense tools.

Not to sound over confident but a home invasion would go really bad really fast for any invaders at my house.
Between the dogs and the security cameras that have complete coverage of my property I would know of any threat real quick like.
Where I live there are way more cows than people. But I would still like to have a handgun on me when I am out and about.
I would love to be able to own handgun(s) in general. But I am not going to jump through hoops of fire to make that happen.
I do not want to own any guns that have to be registered with the state. I guess I'm just stubborn like that.
Just for clarity, I have a little bit of a criminal history from a long time ago. I have talked to my lawyer about that.
He seems to think that what little is in my background shouldn't have a negative impact on the judges decision.
And he is still trying to get me to apply. (we shoot together) but I'm not going to.

I understand what you're saying. But I look at this from a financial standpoint. The constitution says the government can't take your property without due process and without paying you a fair market price for that property. What Emperor Monkeyface is doing by confiscating personal property without compensation is unconstitutional. But The Emperor has shown, on numerous occasions, that he doesn't give a rats ass about the Constitution, the rule of law (unless it's his law) or due process.
I have invested several thousands of dollars in acquiring my firearms, as many of you have as well. Im not going to lose ALL of my investment just because Emperor Asshole or Lord Pistol Permit decide I am no longer worthy.
If the Emperor decides to confiscate my firearms here in New Yorkistan when I move out of this shithole, I'll still have some guns for protection and hunting

What do Gov. Monkeyface's shock troops plan to do when pistols are co-registered? If they "lawfully" (though, unconstitionally) seize firearms from a pistol permit holder that has failed to renew their permit (or otherwise had their permit rescinded) they are still unlawfully seizing the property of a properly-permitted law-abiding citizen with whom the pistols are co-registered.
I'd think that a co-registrant who had their pistols seized by the state would have a case not only to get their property returned, but also a case for a civil rights violation with appropriate putative damages.
