Um... something doesn't add up here:

GOSHEN- Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler has a message to everyone in Orange County: illegal gun possession and use will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Then they get to this:

Recently, Hoovler’s office has secured a number of convictions and negotiated a number of pleas on gun related charges.

Those are contradictory....
Either you are prosecuting them to the full extent of the law, OR you are wheeling and dealing to get them to plead guilty, which includes reducing the types of crimes they are charged with, or the severity of the crime they are charged with.

I mean it's good they're FINALLY getting some scumbags off the streets, but the two cases I searched were incidents from over a year ago, and should have had more charges, like menacing, and reckless endangerment just based on the reporting of the incident.

Well, the statement "prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law" means different things for different people.
For instance.......
A 30 year old veteran with a perfectly clean criminal record who dares to enter a gas station and defend the clerk and patrons from a knife wielding criminal with his legally owned and properly registered handgun, will spend the next 30 years plus in state prison.
But........
A 30 year old career criminal with 34 violent felonies uses a stolen handgun to rob the same clerk, will plea down to a misdemeanor "reckless endangering " and be given time served and $10 for an Uber home.
While.......the law abiding citizen who had their gun stolen and used in the above scenario will be charged and convicted, not offered a plea and spend 4 years in state prison.
Dang!!!! I could probably be a NYS district attorney!!!
