Sudden illness. Hopefully the replacement won’t be a war monger

Sen. Lindsey Graham dies at 71 after ‘brief and sudden illness’

President Donald Trump led tributes to Graham, a leading Republican voice on defense and foreign policy, describing him as a “true American Patriot.”

Good news is that his replacement is appointed by the governor of South Carolina so maybe, just maybe the save act might still have a chance. Not looking good for republicans though.

Lindsey Graham was in Kyiv on July 10 meeting with President Zelenskyy, and on July 11 he visited a Ukrainian drone facility, appearing active and healthy in public videos. Later that same day, he died in Washington from a "sudden illness." The timing naturally raises questions. How can someone complete a demanding international trip, visit a drone facility, appear well, and then pass away later that same day? Iran threatened to kill Lindsey Graham just five days ago and now he's dead with zero explanation.

BREAKING: Sen. Lindsey Graham dead after "sudden illness," his office says

Jul 12, 2026

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has died after a "brief and sudden illness," according to a statement posted Sunday morning on his official Twitter/X page. He was 71 years old.

[Bigfoot]

One never knows when it's their time because of the possible "sudden" factor.
That's how I hope I go, just like my Uncle, suddenly. I've seen people die slowly, over time.
That's the worst.

FWIW. AI Overview -

Yes, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham died at the age of 71 on the evening of Saturday, July 11, 2026, after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Emergency medical responders were dispatched to his Capitol Hill home in Washington, D.C., following reports of chest pains and cardiac arrest, shortly after the senator returned from a trip to Ukraine.

While Graham's office initially reported his passing as the result of a "brief and sudden illness", police scanner audio and emergency dispatch reports confirmed that emergency personnel responded to a cardiac arrest incident at his residence.

[Bigfoot]

Sadly, I bet democrats will espouse hateful comments about his passing.

South Carolina’s Governor can appoint an interim Republican senator to serve until the vacancy is filled under state law. But since Lindsay Graham had already won the Republican nomination just a month ago, the South Carolina GOP would need to choose a replacement nominee all over again. Here’s h…

Who's next? There are more than a few that look terrible and are old as fuck.

I don't recall Graham looking unhealthy, unlike some of the others.

It appears that Schumer's health has taken a nosedive, for example.

when I go, I want to go quiet and peacefull like my grandfather, not screaming, and panicking like the passengers in his car.

Hopefully he gets to meet all the people he helped to murder.

This is a blessing and much much better than McMaster appointing one of his friends.

Yep old age and long flights are not a good combination.

The GOP Senate leadership will be changing.

That's a good thing.

That *may* be a good thing.

Depends on what the actual change is.

RIP Sir

This is a NYS gun forum and we may want to recognize that Senator Graham may have been a better champion for Gun Rights in the God Foresaken State of NY than any elected NY official.

Senator Graham introduced the Respect for the Second Amendment Act, which is aimed at codifying the Supreme Court's landmark ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen into federal law.

The bill is designed to act as a permanent backstop, ensuring the Supreme Court's ruling—which recognized a broad individual right to carry a loaded handgun in public for self-defense—cannot be easily reversed or altered by future judicial decisions and put a stop to the punitive bullshit being pulled by beaver mouth Kathy Hochul and fat ass Letitia James.

It allowed for Legal Protections giving public and private causes of action by allowing NY citizens (and other States) to sue over any law, rule, or ordinance that infringes on Second Amendment rights.

The act enables and calls for courts to strike down local and state gun control laws, regulations, and restrictions if they conflict with 2nd Ammendment federal rights.

To ease the financial burden on citizens looking to vindicate their rights, the legislation shifts attorney fees and costs to the government if the private lawsuit prevails.

Graham positioned this legislative effort as an essential response to the bullshit challenges made against our right to bear arms.

I'm not sure that ANY of the proposed Senate replacements from South Carolina can pass a litmus test to match Senator Graham's actions to enable the Bruen decision to come to fruition in NY.

Russia or Iran likely had a hand in his early demise.

A Fair Warning to all politicians.
It is rumored that Mitch is on life support according to Laura Loomer.

CCP?

Old age??? Hell he just turned 71 and I'm being told by my docs that 70 should be the new 30.

Although most would guess (and could very well be correct) that an embolism is in play, Lindsey Graham bragged he dined exclusively on soft processed foods (he called it American Fuel), admitted did not exercise (played a few rounds of golf a week but always rode a cart), and was a heavy drinker (as Senator Kennedy said he could outdrink anyone on the Hill without vomiting in the aquarium), he is not a dog owner (although he had 2 cats which helps lower blood pressure, dog owners have a significantly lower risk of premature heart attacks) and his father died st 69 of a massive heart attack so I would not be suprised if Graham had coronary blockage / plaque that lead to a heart attack.

Again RIP Senator

Nope. They're in different places.

Yep old age and long flights are not a good combination.

Not trying to make jokes about it, but if that's the case there's a lot of irony in it.

Lindsey Graham - died from sitting around doing nothing.

Seriously though, don't sit around for long stretches without getting up and moving, really bad for you and people die from it every year.

[Robin]

When he arrived on the scene thirty years ago he was pretty much a conservative firebrand and I had high hopes for him. Sadly he hooked up with the McCain wing in the senate and took on a very different mien. Even so I think his bottom line was always America First! I may have disagreed with him on his approach toward that goal but gave him grudging respect always.

Apparently his father died of a heart attack at 69 so genetics was working against him.

I will not say mean and disgusting things about Lindsey Graham.

I will not say nice things about him either.

I will hope that whomever he is replaced with, will decide to put America first
