And my favorite toy.

I wanted something that was like a modern day Swiss K31 but for left handed folk like me. So I used the AR platform as a base.

Anderson Lower, Young Manufacturering left side charging upper, Young Manufacturering BCG, Odin works 18" stainless steel barrel with 1:8 twist in .223 wylde, Midwest industries free floating 12" handguard with MLOK, Magpul MOE Grip, Magpul MOE Rifle stock, Stag Arms Buffer spring, Stag Arms buffer weight, Stag Arms Rifle length buffer tube, Yankee Hill Extended take down pins, Geisssele Automatic Super Semi Automatic Enhanced Trigger, JP Tactical Compensator, Stag Arms lower parts kit, Harris bipod, Leupold rings and a Burris M-Tac 1-4 power.

It operates like any other straight pull "bolt action" rifle. Has no functional gas system so it is immune to semi auto safe act restrictions. Simply installed the gas block backwards and no gas tube. Voila! Not a semi auto. Unlike a traditional bolt action rifle it makes follow up shots very quick with the straight pull action. Simply pull back and release, the buffer spring does the rest. Shoots like a dream! It's more accurate then I am. With my bad aim, I still managed to get .5 MOA at 50 yards with the 4 power M-Tac.

I don't know what goes wrong, every time I get an AR lower I say to myself, "This will be a low cost $500 cheap SHFT utility rifle". And low and behold I always have considerable cost overrides and unexpected delays.

Where is my government contract?

Remington 700 in .243, 26" stock barrel, XLR chassis and Nikon Prostaff 5 2.5-10x50 scope with Leupold dovetail rings. Only thing I plan on doing is a shorter barrel either 22" or 24" with possibly a brake, just for the look.

I made it a few years ago and didn't like the sights, so I made new ones last week and had it out for a go round. Both barrels converge at 50 yards and make a nice little group. Hope to get it back out and finalize the dead on range, probably 75 yards.
Both barrels are .45 Caliber, stock is black cherry from just outside Oatka Park.

If you scroll back you can see earlier versions of this lower receiver that started out life as a $450 SHTF utility rifle and has now turned into a $1450 SHTF utility rifle.

I start my new job as a defense contractor next Wednesday.

(haha old joke but it's half true.)

In the end it is mostly Aero Precision with Magpul jewelry and a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6. Velocity trigger, full mass BCG, JP captured spring, non-adjustable gas. Shoots as well as anything I've ever shot, somewhat heavier and fatter than most competition guns but I expect it to very reliable and sturdy.

That's an inexpensive Mission First back up LED light on the front of the rail, it works well during playtime but I have no clue how it would work if I truly needed it at night. But at one ounce and $19.95 it's nice to have.
