Looking to see if anybody knows where a fedex distribution hub is in WNY. Need to ship a pistol back to a manufacturer for repair.
Here in Rochester I used Fed ex on jefferson rd. , That was several years ago. here is a threadLooking to see if anybody knows where a fedex distribution hub is in WNY. Need to ship a pistol back to a manufacturer for repair.

Yeah that thread was not helpful. I have an RMA label and have to ship it to the manufacturer via FedEx. I tried googling where the FedEx distribution hub is in WNY but google kept giving me local FedEx stores. I don’t want to go thru an FFL as the last I sent a firearm back to a manufacturer for repair the FFL wanted to charge me a handling fee plus insisted I would have to go thru a background check. Here in Rochester I used Fed ex on jefferson rd. , That was several years ago. here is a thread
Shipping A firearm ?
I sold a few handguns through Gun Brokers in the past. I got top dollar and used "Ship My Gun" which only could be shipped through a UPS Service Center" to a receiving FFL. There prices were very reasonable, $25-$30 to ship a handgun. Today all the UPS Service Centers are closed since UPS bought...nygunforum.com
They can not. Per FedEx policy a firearm must be shipped from one of their distribution centers. Can’t they pick it up at your house? They used to do this.
Soo....I was right ! WooHoo !!!! First time in my life ! Do I get a trophy or something ?They can not. Per FedEx policy a firearm must be shipped from one of their distribution centers.
Spent most of today on the phone trying to get the address of a FedEx distribution center. Tried calling every phone number they gave but the AI would not put a person on the phone without a tracking number. Eventually got thru to FedEx customer service which is located in India apparently. They refused to give out an address for anything without a tracking number. Tried calling every local FedEx store but they either had no clue where a fedex distribution center is located, or they refused to give the address as FedEx doesn’t ship guns (which is wrong). Then drove to 3 different FedEx locations in the southtowns until I eventually found an employee who could think with a brain and they provided the address.
If you are in WNY and need to ship from a FedEx distribution center you can go to the location on Cayuga drive by the Buffalo airport.
In short trying to find out a fedex distribution center address is about as easy asking the US military for the address to Area 51 while simultaneously wanting to walk into Fort Knox to see the gold.
They basically don't trust their drivers with guns. They can not. Per FedEx policy a firearm must be shipped from one of their distribution centers.

Apparently they trust their drivers more with guns than they do with customers being given a simple address. They basically don't trust their drivers with guns.

No, literally the reason for similar rules by most companies is that guns are juicy targets for theft and they don't trust their drivers or handlers.Apparently they trust their drivers more with guns than they do with customers being given a simple address.
What a freaking joke. So a gun can be in the truck for delivery, but not for a pick up. They used to pick up. My Ruger SR22 that needed repairs was picked up by them through Ruger. It was easy. They can not. Per FedEx policy a firearm must be shipped from one of their distribution centers.

If it was stolen during delivery there is a paper trail that would end at that exact driver, and they know it.What a freaking joke. So a gun can be in the truck for delivery, but not for a pick up. They scan everything these days. Everything is scanned and tracked. If it was stolen during delivery there is a paper trail that would end at that exact driver, and they know it.
If it happens during pickup, you would get everyone standing in a circle pointing at the guy on their left.
The DC is where the paper trail solidifies enough to be a real chain of custody.
This (and the higher revenues) is why both UPS and FedEx demanded that customers use their "Next Day Air" Services otherwise they would not cover loss irrespective of how much you insured it for...at least UPS capitulated and allowed their customers to select 2nd Day Service. They basically don't trust their drivers with guns.
Unless the driver picking it up decides not to scan it at all because he just wants to take it home. They scan everything these days. Everything is scanned and tracked.
The other issue I ran into is their weekend deliver is under 21. I guess that is an issue when the package is designated as ATF item. This (and the higher revenues) is why both UPS and FedEx demanded that customers use their "Next Day Air" Services otherwise they would not cover loss irrespective of how much you insured it for...at least UPS capitulated and allowed their customers to select 2nd Day Service.
Ironically the same UPS Driver that drops off packages at the Gun Shop will be back at the end of the day to pick up Guns being shipping out.
FedEx Ground is the dregs of the Shipping World and they cannot accept Express Packages, although the local Station will accept Ground packages as the Ground Services sends over a truck at the end of the Day to pick up any accepted there.
The whole thing is full of double standards and dip-shits that don't know and don't care, so you have to play fuck-fuck games...I used to sell and ship a lot of Guns across the Country, now days I pay another FFL that has high volume sales to add one more to the daily tally.
Since it's forbidden to have anything on the outside of the package indicating a Firearm might be inside, and even the contents description on the shipping manifest and label don't reflect that, so there really shouldn't be an issue with the Driver's age as the contents are not disclosed and the packaging itself is sealed, but some people get a bit too wrapped up when it comes to these things....Years ago there was an X-ray machine set up at the Gasoline Alley Gate: UPS Truck gets lit up because there were parcels containing guns inside that were on the Route...the Federal Police detained the Truck and Driver, a Supervisor from USP had to come out and remove the Guns before being allowed to make deliveries on Post. If a memorandum is set forth in advance, they're supposed to let them go in/out without issue...wonder how they treat the US Mail. Policies, Gates and the Guards manning them go from zero to completely fucked up with every new Garrison Commander. The other issue I ran into is their weekend deliver is under 21. I guess that is an issue when the package is designated as ATF item.
A gunsmith has to have a Type-01 FFL. If he does you can ship directly to him and he can ship directly back to you.Pretty much eliminates being able to send the gun to your 2nd cousin, who claims to be able to reapair guns.
Repair shop must hold an FFL
Shipping a pistol is best done by having your local FFL ship the gun for repair to the FFL, screwing your 2nd cousin.
The Feds are way ahead of you on this.
Or you just ship it with someone else. From above Fed Ex:
Shippers that do not hold an FFL are not eligible to obtain approval and are prohibited from shipping firearms with FedEx. Shippers that have not received approval, regardless of their FFL status, are prohibited from shipping firearms with FedEx.
Cousin in prison/halfway house, is fucked.
Do you buy a lot from any dealer? Also, some dealers do not have a FedEx account so they cannot request a pickup. Either they wait until they receive a package from FedEx and give it to the driver or they drive to the FedEx facility and drop it off so they may charge you a fee for that. Also since you have a prepaid label, have you just tried to walk into a FedEx store and drop it off? Usually if you have a pre-paid label, they just scan it and ask if you want a receipt.Yeah that thread was not helpful. I have an RMA label and have to ship it to the manufacturer via FedEx. I am shipping a handgun in for custom work. The company sent me an RMA label for FedEx, thus I have to ship with FedEx unless I want to pay the shipping myself. Normally I just use UPS as their distribution center is conveniently located. If you could just easily call someone at FedEx and they would easily tell you the location of a distribution center this would not have been the giant pain in the butt that it was. For some unknown reason the location of FedEx distribution centers are the companies most tightly held secret on par with asking the US military the address to Area 51.Do you buy a lot from any dealer? It wouldn’t surprise me if some of the drivers are aliens.I am shipping a handgun in for custom work.
