Mamdani-Backed Candidates Win New York House Primaries

All three candidates endorsed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani won their closely-watched House primary races on Tuesday, handing the democratic socialist a victory in his bid to move his party more to the left.

On the job for fewer than six months, the mayor waded into three congressional primary races, backing democratic socialists and progressives against more established Democrats.

Mamdani-endorsed former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander defeated Rep. Dan Goldman, whose seat spans lower Manhattan and part of Brooklyn.

In the race to succeed retiring Rep. Nydia Velazquez, Mamdani-endorsed Assemblymember Claire Valdez, a self-described democratic socialist, beat Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, who was backed by Velazquez.

Rep. Adriano Espaillat, 71, was defeated by Mamdani-backed Darializa Avila Chevalier, 32, a democratic socialist.

Mamdani's endorsements had put him at odds with other prominent New York Democrats. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul endorsed Espaillat and campaigned alongside Goldman.

In these solidly blue districts, primary elections are highly competitive, with the Democratic contender expected to win easily in November.

This is not good for the NY governors race. Communism wins again. I do not like this.

Same with the 61st district I’m in. Zellner lost. I personally know him and I don’t like him. He’s a dirtball so I’m glad he lost. Only about 19,000 ballots cast. It’s all about who motivates their base more for primaries.

Mamdani-backed Socialists went 3/3 in tonight’s New York Democratic primaries… They openly called for: - Citizenship + Voting rights for all illegals - Abolish ICE - Eliminate private health insurance - Pack the Supreme Court As I’ve said… This is the new Democratic party. https://t.co/a5NZOpYM7C

According to AI Overview.

Approximately 38% of New York City's population is foreign-born, representing over 3.1 million residents.

I just thought I'd mention it.

And about 20% of those are known to have recently come in to sanctuary city NYC under Biden's open border period. (Again from an AI multi source overview).

How just 7% of voters, mostly young and white, led Mamdani’s NYC socialist election surge

Just 7% of active voters supported Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s radical ally Darializa Avila Chevalier over establishment Democrat Rep. Adriano Espaillat in Tuesday’s main event primary, data shows.

The overall low turnout — roughly 17% of Democratic voters citywide — came as Avila Chevalier and two other Mamdani-backed House primary winners captured a mix of high-earning, young, white and black voters, analysts found.

Insiders also credited the Democratic Socialists of America’s formidable field operations for turning out voters who’d back Mamdani’s preferred candidates — setting the stage for a potential party takeover by the DSA.

“It’s a hostile takeover by the Democratic Socialists of America who have demonstrated that they have the organization to win primaries where there is no voter turnout,” Polanco told The Post Wednesday.
Even for ultra-liberal New York City, the wins by Mamdani’s candidates ultimately came from small slivers of the city’s approximately 3 million active Democratic voters, data shows.
“In some of these districts nobody votes, it’s a very small turnout and the Democratic Socialists of America come in and win. They’ve taken over the party locally.”

Honestly primaries are stupid for this very reason. The left wants them because that’s how their communists get elected. A D will not vote for a Republican, but nationwide/state wide it’s a bit different and why the Republicans swept the 2024 election season nationally. Locally people will side with communists much easier and this is why we are having these commies elected.
That is ridiculously low turnout out and now this candidate is on the ballot and they will likely be elected because it’s NYS and an R won’t win. This is the plan folks.
