To my taste the response was mild at best. McCarthy threatening Garland’s job in a tweet was as spicy as I saw, and I don’t rate that very highly.

The response needs to be much louder, longer and carry with it some measurable actions from constituents (insomuch as we can) all the way up to ranking congressional members. Fight fire with fire, and they shot first.

When/if the GOP takes the house in the fall they will hold the power of the purse strings exclusively.

They could completely defund the FBI and IRS with a simple vote.

They will have that power.

The fact that they aren't even threatening to use it speaks volumes.

Nothing will be defunded and nothing will change. This is just Donald Trump jump starting his campaign. Do I blame him for this circus? No. This is how the masses are stimulated in this country. The sky is falling every election cycle. American politics 101. I no longer give a shit.

Crisis at the National Archives

Crisis at the National Archives

In the middle of directing the difficult task of transferring the historically important records of the Obama administration into the National Archives, the archivist in charge, David Ferriero, ran into a serious problem: A lot of key records are missing.

To support this effort, in 2014 President Obama signed the Presidential and Federal Records Act Amendments. For the first time electronic government records were placed under the 1950 Federal Records Act. The new law also included updates clarifying "the responsibilities of federal government officials when using non-government email systems" and empowering "the National Archives to safeguard original and classified records from unauthorized removal.” Additionally, it gives the Archivist of the United States the final authority in determining just what is a government record.

And yet the accumulation of recent congressional testimony has made it clear that the Obama administration itself engaged in the wholesale destruction and “loss” of tens of thousands of government records covered under the act as well as the intentional evasion of the government records recording system by engaging in private email exchanges. So far, former President Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Attorney General Lynch and several EPA officials have been named as offenders. The IRS suffered record “losses” as well. Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy called it “an unauthorized private communications system for official business for the patent purpose of defeating federal record-keeping and disclosure laws.”

No different than most libs and Dems. His hatred for Trump outweighs his love for this country (what ever he had to begin with).

Trump knows how to stir up shit, you have to give it to him. Unlike Lee Zeldin with pussy knife attack. Trump is definatly going to get the nomination. Mike Pence, Liz Cheney will never come close.

What if the purpose of the raid wasn't to seize evidence of wrong doing by Trump.

But was intended to seize Trump's evidence of wrong doing by someone else...

Well, the purpose of a search warrant is to obtain ""EVIDENCE"" of a crime. They had to show a judge PROBABLE CAUSE to search.

What does the warrant say , and what did they find? 30 agents can go through 5 boxes in an hour or two . How many fucking weeks , months do we have to wait to see the ""evidence"" ( that wasn't in his safe)

God, I hope he left a note to the FBI in his safe.

"The system" can't arrest anyone.

The FBI could send agents to arrest him, but they are just men. They could also be arrested.

That sort of thing is how cold civil wars become hot civil wars.

Legally desantis can’t do it . It’s a federal crime to interfere with that legal warrant . Even Trump supporters will tell you , it’s got to be fought in court.
Desantis would be arrested if he did that . Any LEO who followed such an order from him could be arrested . It would have him fall into the democrats trap.
It has to be fought in court. Remember that SCOTUS can still override any unfair court decision.

Yes, as I said, that would be like seizing the guns at Ft Sumpter.

But that *is* how a new civil war would start. With state officials telling federal officials to go fuck themselves.

As for who actually gets arrested in that situation, it depends on who brought more guns.

I do not think we are anywhere near that point yet, but when/if it happens that's what it will look like.
