MTA, NYC on strike stranding people in NYC

I love it. No raises since 2022 why wouldn’t they go on strike? Highest inflationary period they have seen and no raises. I guess the good thing is the democrats finally are admitting the laws of economics apply. If they raise wages fairs will need to increase as well. I’m shocked by this. Of course the MTA head says they are the highest paid railroad workers in the country so they don’t need a raise. Has anyone considered they live in the highest priced city in the USA?

I don’t know the details but I love how the democrats always say pay your workers, but then they do not provide raises to their own.

Things seem to be going well in the NYC experiment. Strange the working class on this city haven’t gotten a cost of living raise from the people always talking about the people. Remember, Communism is all about a ruling class with dependent peasants to provide the labor; eliminating middle class.

Really has nothing to do with NYC directly. The LI RR is state run and only terminates in NYC. It mainly serves Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Many of the Railroad employees i run into are some of the laziest people ive seen. Its literally like a mafia where they milk the tax payers for money to do little work. I have no use for unions for government employees. I see it first hand as a contractor that works hand in hand with MTA workers on a regular basis.

Its more like a welfare system where they assign 8 people to do a 1 man job, that the tax payers pay for. Its very poorly managed, and wasting tax dollars beyond belief.

You have no idea how bad it really is. Back around 1980 , a couple friends got jobs with the NYC transit and a couple other rail systems. One of them worked a "track work" train. They would start at 8am. Get to the station where they would load and board the work tarin. sit and have coffee etc til the train pulled out at 9. Got to the location about 11, work an hour or so and go to lunch, get back at 1 or 2, usually drunk, "work" til 3 when they had to pack up and head back.... and get an hour OT unloading the train just to load it up again the next morning. There was, and probably still is a big heroin problem in all the rail systems. I had friends that worked Amtrak, conrail, LIRR and NYC transit that were stone cold junkies. When they get caught they would just get sent to the farm and back to work. All three of them had multiple incidents. One guy, after the first time he got sent to the farm he got back and they gave him a job in the tower, cutting power when the crew called in a location, yep, he nodded out at the switch and a guy on the track got zapped, didnt die but got real fucked up. Think they fired him? Nope, farm and back to work. I have more stories, but you get the idea.

This is very possible. If true they should work to rectify this. However, not giving people raises for 5 years is not ok. If they are bad employees they should be removed.

If no raise, you need to decide if you are going to get a new job or move to a new location.
