My family who lives in New Hartford/Utica area told me that it was locked down tighter than a drum that Saturday afternoon.

I was also told there is a lot of gang activity at the Pinz (bowling alley).

Ain't the mall I remember as a kid, especially when Pennys, Sears, and you had Kleins All Sports there. Man those were the days....... :(

WOW. Right next to a little kid. Last I checked the mall didn't prohibit concealed carry. I bet those gun free zone signs will go up now. Good thing me or my family do not frequent that shit hole.

Oops, hang on, I think HR is calling me. That must have been insensitive.

Sangertown mall ? No shit, I thought that that ancient relic was shuttered years ago.

I keep hearing that the town wants to convert it into housing/mini-city due to all of the strip malls. Ever since the main anchor stores left.

I dunno, have no reason to set foot on those grounds. In fact, I don't even like the town of New Hartford, but I got one family member that lives there.

Any body wanna take a guess as to the perps skin color?
Use to go there for Christmas, birthday and so on type shopping, now it's just a place to go to when you want a reason to ponder living.

So, little guy gets pushed in the back by big guy, they have words while little guy back peddles, then little guy pulls out a gun and shoots at big guy. Then, while running, little guy goes back for what appears to be shoes. I thought only women got that hostile over shoes.

I must be older than you. I remember Riverside Mall being the new thing.

I still remember walking around in that mall, when you could walk around in it.

About 10 years ago I got to go inside the defunct area of the mall and it brought back memories.

Amazing how Basspro was once a Montgomery Wards. In fact, if you look carefully inside and out, to the trained eye you can still see how it was built, along with some of the old openings.

Down on Commercial Drive, I still remember my parents buying a fridge from Inkawich's Appliances (where Walgreens is now)...

I've lived in the area since 1992 so used to go to both of those malls back in the day. Not too much any more.

I have not been inside Sangertown in years, but I have been to Target a couple of times over the last 5 years or so. I go to Riverside to go to BJ's shopping club or to Bass Pro. If I'm there on my lunch break I might go to Five Guys for a burger.

Yes to me it looks like they were having words over the shoes or whatever for some reason, maybe a small scuffle then little guy tossed the shopping bag as he backs away, then when big guy goes for the bag, little guy yanks out his gun and starts firing. In no way does that look like self defense to me, unless maybe big guy was pulling a gun too to use after he grabbed the bag?

If any of you watch Active Self Protection on YT, they always preach about being a good, safe, sober, moral person. Getting into a heated dispute over shoes or whatever was stupid on both of their parts, and now they both have to deal with the aftermath.

Except in NY you're expected to give up material things before taking a life in defense of a mugging.

Once he threw the bag and the big guy went for it he should have run away.

In America he'd be justified protecting himself and his property. In NY he's going to prison for longer than the mugger would have.
