I don't know, but do they really? Most farmers I know are fairly conservative.
As a farmer who grew up on a farm, we have worked tirelessly to eliminate laborers.
Milking parlors may hire some workers, but are mostly owner operated with family.
This is communism................. aimed at the Amish who use family laborers, and apple growers who hire illegals.
Corn planting takes one huge machine that tills, cultivates and plants the seed . One huge machine harvests the corn and leaves the stalks and leaves on the ground for fertilizer. Corn for ensilage chops it complete and it blown up into the silos by machine. Few work

Ummm. Not really sure you’re getting this right… except maybe the farm stand part. All the apple farms I know use H2A visa workers, adverse effects wage is set at 16.95 this year plus you pay for them to come , pay their housing, provide transportation to go shopping and pay for them to go home. Yeah it’s aimed at the produce and fruit producers and it’s a real shame. Lots of guys getting out because it just isn’t worth it with all the regs and BS. Whenever someone asks me what’s the hardest part of farming, my answer is always the same. Dealing with all the BS from .GOV
I know A LOT of farmers only one who’s a liberal and he’s a douch anyway …. So there’s that. The farmers ain’t the ones voting for this shit I guarantee it.

The farm that is down the street from me is so for right, that they had Trump flags all over the place, denounced the lock downs, forced vaxxes, etc, etc. They don't like how the government is getting into farmer's lives along with all the other crap.
However, I know of another farmer that is so far left, they would fit in perfectly with Biden as an ass-munching clown.
I'm sure there are numbers out there how many farmers are blue and red...
Back in the day, when I worked almost every afternoon at the farm down the street, his laborers got paid in some cash and some food. That is how it worked. Me, being a youngin, I mostly got food to bring home to eat dinner. The old man has a freezer full of half everything... Oh, and in my eyes, that wasn't forced child labor. Yeah, I didn't like some of the tasks, however it made me understand the importance of farming and having a job all at the same time.

This will just force farmers to get more and more mechanized and will cause problems. That wage them at fatfarmerbob quoted is crazy. $16.95 and they don’t pay for much of anything at all while they are here. The H2A labor rate is getting out of control.

16.95 x60 hours ( 56 next year ) = 1017.00 a week. They are not liable for all the taxes us citizens are, plus rent let’s call it 250 (62 a week) a month plus let’s say 40.00 a week to and from shopping. And the cost to and from Mexico with associated fees 1500.00. (75 a week) ima leave out electric and TV. Not to mention I don’t know anyone who doesn’t let their help take any produce they want for their pub consumption.
That nearly 1,200.00 a week. Anddd if you bust past the 60 hours ( soon to be 56 ) you over 25$ an hour … that adds up fast. Get ready to pay for those groceries boys !

I’ve told them many times that their pissing their money down the toilet every night but it just doesn’t resonate… I really don’t care as long as there good to go in the morning but don’t cry about money if your gonna drink it away.

Got a 30 amp on the light tower diesel genny that’ll run my well and furnace but I’m thinking long term 1-2 years into teofwawki prolly be used to cold showers then… as for internet I gota talk to Elon see if star link is gonna work in that geopolitical climate… lol

Around my area, there's a few of the organic grass fed dairies, and I have seen the leftist bumper stickers and campaign signs on their property.
Not to mention, every time a leftist comes to ny, farmers are down licking their boots instead of standing up and speaking out against them

One of my best friends operates a substantial sized Apple Orchard and as you described above, that is just one of the obstacles NYS places in front of Farms. It cost a hell of a lot of money to fly dozens of Jamaicans round trip to Syracuse, pay for their visa applications, supply housing set to State Standards, provide vehicles, transportation, etc. and next year their Hourly is going to $18.xx an hour PLUS overtime. The State has mandated that Water used to irrigate Apple Trees must come from Treated sources, so that irrigation pond or well that you draw thousands of gallons per hour from has to go through an approved filtration system be it their own or Municiple. The entire perimeter of the Orchard has to be Fenced in in such a way that people and animals cannot gain access, they cannot spray crops without permission, and that spray has to be approved, applied by someone licensed/trained yearly to do so, and then there's someone that comes out to the Farm and say's "OK, you can spray on these days only".
I see the good and benefits, but I also see the intrusiveness and communism with what the State is and has been doing...Dairy Farmers have it even worse as the Federal Government controls how much they'll be paid! Oh, and speaking of getting paid, the Apple Orchards don't receive their payments for Fruit shipped as late a a year later....How 'bout them apples.

I don't know much about farm labor rates and I am shocked that pay is based on 60 hours for labor, but clearly farm labor doesn't belong in the exempted group and maybe a few others that are not in control of bonuses offered and sales percentage cut.
