In the United States, coal resources are larger than remaining natural gas and oil resources, when measured by total British thermal units (Btu). Once a year, we report remaining tons of coal in the DRB, which consists of coal resources that have been identified to specified levels of accuracy.

We are not allowed to frack in NY State . Let alone run a few pipelines across NY State. How many oil refineries have been built in the last 30 years ?
We need energy to survive a war .. Have one or two coal plants in every state . Hell China builds a new one every week. . Use all the new tech we can incorporate . Folks our national security is our energy production .. What will it take to fight a long prolong war. .. Wars always come folks.

One problem in a political /civil isolation of urban-rural communities is that access/egress to /from many urban areas requires passage over bridges or through tunnels.

You would be surprised how many trucks bring food into NYC every day. A truckers strike could starve them out in a week or so.

Are fresh vegetables and fish still shipped into the Hunts Point market in the Bronx by train? I worked there as a teenager before I enlisted.
Fish Market on South Street was closed 20 some odd years ago. Unload fish right off the boat at times.

Supermarkets usually only have at most 3 days of food in them.
My first truck driving job had me delivering fresh and frozen food into Elizabeth, NJ. I had heard of Hunts point, but never delivered there.

There was a " diner " of sorts that would deliver right to the truck
Really good food
The restrooms............even the flies avoided them
Most of the produce stalls had a game as far as getting unloaded
Never a money bribe but usually some sort of gift of some sort would get you unloaded before other trucks

I believe that's three days of FRESH Food such as Meats, Fruits, Vegetables, Baked goods, etc. and even those are subjective to the Store/Chain and it's location.
