We will get a very good sense of just how close to civil war we are this fall. If this guy piker is not repudiated by the Democrats, and if these DSA candidates win - then it is clear to me that violence won't be far behind.

The issue isn't if they can, it is if they SHOULD.
Once ballots are serialized and tracked to a specific person it opens the door to even more infringements on Rights in the form of intimidation or outright danger to those who vote.
What if ballots become serialized and one Party of the .gov can say "Livingston voted for our opponent. Go 'educate' him on who he really should vote for."
This is my biggest concern on the whole "Present ID for voting" stuff. We already know, quite painfully, the drawbacks to this kind of imposition on one of our Rights. Having to present ID, pass government mandated "background checks", and other financial impositions just to exercise our 2A Rights, we should be shouting from the rafters on the kinds of infringements requiring ID for voting can create.
What we really need right now is the same thing we've been calling for for decades. one of the reasons Trump was elected a second time.
Enforce the Laws that already exist.
It's the one thing they seem incapable of actually doing.
