As for the Felonies...
I see and hear of some really crazy arrests for some really stupid things that do indeed ruin peoples lives. Coppers like AB and True have seen them much more than I have. Most people have no clue to some of our Country's stupid laws and Penal System.

That's unconscionable. They can't get rid of the 2nd and 4th amendments so they just pretend that they don't exist? We should start all over again. It wouldn't give me as my heartburn if i thought that the american people were up to it. But then again there was a lot of resistance to the first american revolution. A lot of people just wanted to be left alone, and the founders managed it anyway.

Many of us have committed felonies without even knowing it or by accident.
A wrong turn and you are suddenly in Jersey while carrying. A gun owner who doesn't go on the internet and gets stopped with a Ruger 10-22 in a wooden thumbhole stock. A law abiding CCW carrier who mistakingly goes to the post office or school to pick up his child.
It happened to me. I went into a USDA office in a commercial building in Middletown for a home loan application and after leaving, I saw a no firearms sign on the door. I didn't see it when entering because a woman entered before me and held the door open for me. I saw it once I was already inside on the wall of the counter and on the door on the way out.
It's highly unlikely anyone would have known but the chance is still there.

No, no, no... I don't mean scrap the constitution. I mean scrap our government and replace it with one that's less rabid and that respects the boundaries set up by our founders.
The Czechs had what is refered to as a "defenestration" - they didn't like what the government was doing so they quite literally threw the representatives out of the windows of the Prague castle. We should have a white house And congressional defenestration. Follow it up with an FBI defenestration. Mmmm... Who else? A UN defenestration- just kick them out of the country all together. Albany would make for a nice defenestration.

This is kind of what I was thinking. Get rid of the SAFE Act, and you'll see a lot of this other bullshit go away. Permit approval times will drop, online sales can resume in full, round restrictions will drop, etc. A lot of things have come from the SAFE Act, and I hate them the most.
Unlike some of you, and I'm ok to disagree, I have no problem with permits for weapons. If you're not a criminal and you can pass a background check, you can have guns - all the guns. I don't want a handgun permit, I want a permit to own anything that shoots anything. I want class 3 shit, I want bb guns, whatever. I want it all. If you find that I'm a good person and haven't broken the law and have no mental health issues, let me at it. Not everyone deserves weapons.

As much as I love my pistols and believe that every law abiding citizen should be allowed to carry, I think the whole so-called "assault weapons" ban is the worst of it. Our forefathers fought and won a revolution carrying a musket and we can do so again with our "modern muskets." The most important thing to have is a rifle of contemporary military utility. Besides, Jeff Cooper himself said that one only needs a handgun in order to get a rifle.
For the record, though, I would be totally down with being able to own suppressors and threaded barrels. One, for the hearing protection, and two because the only times I've ever had an issue between my neighbors and me because of my guns was because of the noise. Eliminate the noise pollution and (at least for me) all those problems go away.

I think having the ability to have a pistol that is able to be concealed is more important.
A long gun with features at home does you no good at a mass shootout in Walmart.
