power measure

Do you dump your powder measure every time you are done for the day? Do you tear it apart and clean everything ?

Used Lyman Brass smith first time today, worked well. but even though I wiped it w/ dryer sheet, still lot of static cling, even metal baffle and body. Season w/ powdered graphite?

I empty mine everytime. I've only cleaned it a couple of times. I do put a dryer sheet in it when it's not in use.

Do you just leave it in the hopper or push it into the ''rotor'' I guess it's called ? I just went to Ace and bought some powdered graphite, I may dump some in and keep working it around until nothing dumps out.

I usually just put the dryer sheet in the hopper. I read about someone putting a dryer sheet around the outside of the hopper with a rubber band when in use. If it's a new hopper they will settle down in time but graphite doesnt hurt.

I dump it out and drop in a dryer sheet like @MilesTeg . The powder will turn the hopper yellow or brown if you don't. The dryer sheet eliminates static electricity which makes dumping powder in or out a lot easier.

Dusted it w/ graphite and put a dryer sheet in.. See how it goes tomorrow.

I have two of the Hornady drop powder measures, the first one I ran powdered graphite threw it, I should of layer a news paper or paper towels down. It had a mess.
The Budweiser probably didn't help out either.
My second one I cleaned it with one shot, wiped it dry and wiped it down with dryer sheets. After a few uses no more static cling.
If I will ne using the same powder next time I reload I leave the powder in the tube with the plastic powder jug right next to the powder measure.
After I empty the powder measure I wipe it and leave the dryer sheet inside the tube.

Yup....I dumped graphite into the rotor area not thinking that it would dump on the bench when I worked it ! LOL DOH !!

My bench top is 5/8" wood with 1" sanded plywood on top. I didnt apply any type of finish on it when I did the dry graphite run. It stained my plywood black so I ended covering it up with tan formica my boss had left over from a house we built.





I had all of my cleaned, prepped brass on my bench which took up a bunch of space so I installed wire shelving to store them on.

This shelf is above the door, I keep odd ball stuff up there.
