One thing I haven't heard from the leftists yet is calls for more common sense gun laws....

Another use posted an answer similar to what I would say according to Roberts.
I just want to say that if you ask in a polite way like that, even if you lean a different way, I think you should get a similar response. There's nothing wrong with reasonable discourse.
You should be allowed to think critically and ask questions. I do not think Trump or Biden are infailible. Not is the supreme Court.
I for one think they are being cowards on the subject of the 2nd amendment.
She would know best, because she has all that experience working for Pepsi.

Perhaps. But his range was 150 yards with an AR, correct? I am sure many of us have shot at that range knowing a 223/556 can surely reach that distance, but also knowing it is not as easy as some think. You have a 20 suttin year old with probably limited experience that made a head shot adjusting for bullet drop perfectly, but hit him too far to the left (or was it right?). Seems to good to be true. And yes if you think I am implying the shot came from elsewhere, well I am. I don't believe a word these people say. They are evil.

Correct. Set up could also play a factor. Was is a plain name cheap ar with a delta ring? Probably not the most accurate rifle. Then factor in if he had a scope, the set up like torque specs, etc.
I'm sure we will never know, but as a 20 year old I was pretty simplistic in my approach on rifle set up vs now.
"The president’s management of the military is a “core” function of the president; it is described in article II of the US constitution. Thus, the president likely enjoys absolute immunity from prosecution here."
"A president intent on launching military action that is illegal or immoral – calling a Seal Team 6 operator to kill an American overseas, or perhaps someone within the United States – today can be expected to face a refusal to obey an unlawful order and a report to Congress. But a malevolent president can simply fire any officer who refuses the order, working through the ranks until he finds one willing to obey an illegal order, offering a presidential pardon that would immunize whoever obeys the order from the consequences of a court martial.
The idea that the president might declare a political opponent an enemy of the state and have a military sniper kill that person was raised as a hypothetical during oral arguments, and the resulting decision, incredibly, does not categorically rule that act a prosecutable abuse of power."
How might a rogue president use the US supreme court immunity ruling?
A first pass shows just how much damage a president could do to the rule of law when no longer constrained by it

The seemingly far fetched hypotheticals, intended to clearly delineate the extreme parameters of the immunity question at hand, were instead held out as very possibly qualifying for immunity by the Court. You and your short sighted buddies here are apparently unaware of the extraordinary times we are in.

Are we sure it’s a 223/556. I saw ar-style and could have been an Ar10 in 308 for all we know.

150 is a midrange shot for basic trainees.
One witness said he turned his head right to point at the border metrics as the shot took place.

True. I forget the media assumes scary AR-15 whenever a scary black rifle is present.

Looking at some of these posts gets me thinking.
Don't matter how the scumbag got the money to travel.
Maybe he sold dope, maybe he took it up the ass,
Scumbags always find a way to do what they want.
How he was allowed to get a position on a roof within 150yds from Trump is the real concern
How he was able to pop off rounds b4 being brain beaned is real concern
One of my biggest concerns now is how many new gun laws are going to be proposed from this incident
Gun laws don't stop scumbags from committing crimes, effective courts and sentences for convictions have become no deterrent any longer.
What is needed is old fashion wild west convict and hang in the town square type law enforcement to give the scumbags something to ponder if their want to commit crime is worth the end result
Probably didn't convey this correctly but hope some of you get what I'm trying to say

Murder of a political opponent, or any other non official act do not qualify under presidential immunity. But considering you have been brainwashed by the msm and the lying , im not surprised, although I am a bit disappointed as I thought you were smarter than that."The president’s management of the military is a “core” function of the president; it is described in article II of the US constitution. Thus, the president likely enjoys absolute immunity from prosecution here."

Bullet drop? What?
We have no clue what he had, what length barrel, what caliber, only a blurry areal picture of a dead guy and a what appears to be an AR on a roof. If we assume its a 5.56 AR, depending on ammo its nearly flat at 150-200m. A couple inches variation at best. Someone with an afternoons familiarization could make that shot with ease.
We may surmise that he was left leaning and may have come from a left leaning family, but this is also western PA. Gun culture is alive and well and he did not exactly live in a metropolis.
Missing may have been lack of skill, but what about lying on a hot ass roof, or more likely factor was lack of traning and experiance due to the massive adrenaline dump he had knowing he was ending his life that day one way or another.

Yea I know its not the hardest distance to reach out, but I factor in nerves, time, position/stance, etc...those alone make a difference compared to us that shoot from a bench. Then there is the choice to take a head shot..why not a chest shot? Perhaps I am overthinking it because I shoot a lot and this dude was inexperienced and was winging it (yet almost achieved his goal). We will never know.

I've seen new video of people that are just underneath the building where the shooter was positioned. You can hear them yelling "He's got a gun! He's right up there!" Easily would have been heard by the shooter. This is a 20 yr old soy boy kid it looks like with prob little to no training. I imagine his adrenaline was rushing, breathing was all over the place and he was prob shaking like a leaf, then hearing that he's been spotted and maybe rushes the shot a little more even. And still grazed the ear.
The BIGGEST fail is how did this douchenozzle get into a position from 150 out to have a clear shot at Trump.

Im actually glad he used an ar style rifle, i believe that if he had a precision rifle with quality ammo he would have succeeded in taking out Trump.
Let's start with the initial assumption in this ridiculously far-fetched hypothetical being tossed about:
Even attempting to declare a political opponent an "enemy-of-the-State" without that opponent first performing some obviously severe illegal behavior is pushing the bounds of reality. No sitting President would survive such an obvious attempt.
I'm sure there are even more outlandish hypotheticals that can be piled on top of this initial one to justify the fear, but, like the "so everyone should be able to own nukes" false escalation being used to justify 2A infringements, the likelihood of such a situation actually coming to pass is laughable.
As far as I know, as a non-historian, there is no path within the Constitution that would enable a sitting President the ability to assassinate his political rival. If there is I respectfully request you detail how that would come to pass.
As Celt said:
Your twisted logic about declaring someone an enemy and having the military kill them seems beyond far-fetched.
On the other hand, I would GLADLY accept that Presidents (and, by extension, all other politicians) have no immunity. That means the lawsuits against the Biden family, Clinton family, Obama family, Hochul family, Cuomo family, etc. (ad nauseum) can begin immediately. Anyone even hoping to be elected to a political position would have to be so squeaky clean as to be saints.
Does a sitting President have the power to declare someone an "enemy-of-the-State" and immediately send troops out to detain/execute that person without any checks to that power at all?

People on this forum are not short-sighted. The events occurring in the United States recently have made so many people aware of long-term effects of current policies and behaviors.

As Celt said:
Assassinating your opponent is not a core constitutional capacity, nor an official act. It is no different than taking bribes, doing drugs, sniffing little girls, or other unwanted bahviors.

Yeah there were several who saw him climb up in gray cammo with the rifle. They told the police. Less then 10 minutes later; shots. One of them was confused why Trump was still on the stage speaking
