I find this along with the rest of their dangerous little game scary as hell. The issue is will these people ever get convicted now in a jury trial? Calling for the resignation of a DA for charging a person correctly is very frightening.

I was just talking with a friend of mine who’s now a lieutenant and going through supervisor training. He was just told it doesn’t matter anymore if you follow your training or department guidelines the DA will still charge you. This is even more of a travesty. Hey we told you to act this way and the people don’t like the outcome so you’re under arrest.

I actually think that's a good idea.
A clinician and a cop as a response to a mental health incident.
HOWEVER, there will still be times that the individual having the incident is going to decide that the only option is force.
I only get one out of the two votes on how much force is used.

Method to never have a negative interaction with police:

1. Don't commit crime. This is the biggest one.
2. Don't talk to the police for any reason.

As to #2 the police may want to talk to you within reason even if you did #1. Example. You didn't do anything but you fit the description of the low-life.

Never talk to police. Ask if you are free to go. If they say yes, leave. If they say no immediately invoke your 5th to remain silent and 6th to have a lawyer present during any questioning. Then shut up, the only thing out of your mouth should be demanding your 5 and 6 rights as above. Because of Salinas vs Texas you need to explicitly invoke these rights for some BS reasons (you don't need to invoke the 1st before you say something controversial... This is probably for another topic though). You can't say anything to the police that will help you even if you are innocent, that type of thing is 100% of the time dismissed as heresay.
