Anyone know about this specific line of ammo? At $19.99/50 box pretty good price. The 185 grain flying ashtrays have decent energy.

I love my Golden Saber 180gr 40cal. they are essentially the old "Black talon", but with a gold jacket and a better name. LOL

A lot of people like it but I did not get 100% reliability in any of my 1911's. As a matter of fact I didn't get 100% reliability with any hollow points. When I carry a 1911 ,which I rarely do, I only carry 230 Gr. ball ammo.

Both perform great.

I have GS in all of my carry mags. They run through all of my handguns, without flaw. I guess ya can say that I would 'stake my life on them'!!

11 inches in gel isn’t 11 inches in a body. It isn’t a 1 to 1 ratio. Skin alone equates to 4 inches in gel.

Gel is just a "calibrated" "repeatable" test medium that you, me, @Marine Cpl could all go out and test the same ammo in our own backyard and compare results and those results actually be comparable..

Similarly those hillbilly backyard people may shoot say a block of wood with one gun/bullet then shoot a similar block of wood, but in reality those blocks of woods could be from 2 different trees one slightly tougher than the other not giving repeatable results over time.

Calibrated gel is repeatable day to day

Gel is still better for testing. If you line up a dozen Arabs for example, you still wouldn’t get repeatable results. Some are fatter than others. Some shots will hit bone. Other shots may just graze bone. Some are more calcium deficient than others. Some may have Allah looking out for them.

There are just too many variables where as gel is supposed to be the same every time when calibrated.

Had the same issue with a 1911 I had.Took it to my gunsmith and he did some kind of grind/polish to the feed ramp and it ran hollow points flawlessly.

There's nothing wrong with the guns. The malfunction only occurs with the last round d in the mag. Extra strength springs will probably eliminate the problem. The gun was designed around a ball round so that is what I carry.

Yes,the guns were designed for hardball ammo,thats why I had him reshape the feed ramp so it would reliably feed hollow points.

About the only thing Remington still makes good, is their ammo. The Golden Saber is top of the line SD stuff!

After alot of research I chose 125 grain Golden Sabre JHP.
In my 3 inch barrel they penetrate about as far as the GS 124 grain 9mm but have 2x the muzzle energy to get through bones, cloths and such.

I dont carry 38 Special but the GS preform pretty good too.
