Interesting that this article came out on the heels of Rugers recent announcement. Is there any validity here?

If I were a better purveyor of bullshit, I could write professional articles on Guns...
The one thing you can get from Revolvers that hits the proverbial wall is Power; outside of the defunct "Automags" and perhaps the .45 Win Mag LAR Grizzly, it's hard to get better than about .44 mag out of a Pistol. (thinking .460 Roland)
Don't let anyone tell you that Revolvers cannot or do not fail, because they do, and the article says there are fewer moving parts which is subjective and without comparison.
Carry what you have provided you can conceal it and qualify with it as well...multiple shots are desirable, but how many rounds do you think you're going to get off before exiting Stage Left?

Manufacturers of wheel guns need to update their offerings. When semi auto pistols it is easy to get one with fiber optic sights, night sights or basic white 3 dot sights. With revolvers the vast majority are either black on black or just a gutter sight with black front. How about making a revolver that takes Glock pattern sights so I have a huge selection of after market sights to pick from?
How about making a revolver that can accept red dot plates or even direct mount for a red dot. Most modern shooters want to mount a red dot to their handgun. Currently only Taurus offers such a revolver with factory red dot mounting. Revolvers make a ton of sense since you don’t have a moving slide, and thus by proxy a moving red dot.
Like I own 4 revolvers currently, and dealing with getting better sights on them has been a giant pain in the ass.

There’s no reason to use a revolver for CCW or HD unless you are a diminutive female who cannot handle an auto. They are obsolete relics of an earlier era.

Bottom feeders are for people who need more rounds to compensate for crappy shooting skills.
Alpha Men and Women who carry revolvers are confident in their abilities.
That doesn't sit well with the Beta bottom feeding crowd.

Meh. No. The only time I’ve really looked at buying a revolver is for a snakesnot or for fun. And the only people I know who have revolvers have them for fun or just to shoot something different.
Hard to put an optic or light on it. Less rounds. Slow reload.
Maybe something small for pocket carry but I’d still rather have my normal ccw.

Back in the 1970s I gave my girlfriend/wife a Dan Wesson 357 with 2" barrel and combat grips, she carried it in a purse/handbag just larger than the revolver.
As far as using it, I have a good story, but lets say it will shoot through a small purse with out pulling it.

I am partial to stainless revolvers, and have a collection of them from .22 to .44’s, from S&W, Ruger, and others.
My first EDC was a snubby Ruger SP101 .357. Very, very concealable. The muzzle flash alone can blind an attacker.
Still a favorite, and still goes into the rotation. Mine til I die someday.

For those that carry semi autos and revolvers - at what times do you prefer a revolver?
I am heavily biased against revolvers because I use matches for practice and revolvers are such a massive disadvantage (even in a low round count stage).

Revolver for woods and hiking. .357 revolver reliability. Either a 5 shot SP101 or Wiley Clapp 3" six shot. I can always beat a black bear to death with it.

Haha, only need 1 well placed shot vs 20 spray n pray.
Would think the majority of face to face shoot outs are in the 20' range or closer. Rare on the shoot from further like the guy did who saved lives. A 20 round mag when jams happen equals no shots. So if both guns are functioning the auto due to ammo brand feeding could jam; revolvers will rotate to next round, auto you need to rack the slide hope the next round fires.

I have a friend who was past 80 years in age. She could not rack a slide so a revolver was her choice. I have a wrist that has arthritis due to a severe injury almost 50 tears ago. Unless I change position of my grip I cannot drop the mag on my p320. ... It is all about the strength of the thumb and pain . My VP9 with the paddle release is doable . That said carrying a LCR is not a problem with me. I am not a police officer . I am not looking to engage in a fire fight with a criminal . Statistics point to only a few rounds needed to engage an attacker. If it ever happens . I believe the bigger issue is not whether a person has a revolver or not is the one of a person has a say Glock 19 and never trains with it. I have a relative that has a handgun and they have only shot it twice at the range. They have owned it for at least 10 years.

In matches, low round count and slow reload.
USPSA has round counts between 16-32 for a stage and scoring is speed and accuracy (points / time). (And matches are where I practice with my carry gun which is why I’m biased.)
"Did ja hit 'em?"
"I dunno, he disappeared in a cloud of smoke!"
The smoke works both ways, who was that ghost.

I usually tell people to make an adult assessment and decision. Everyone loves to touch and feel their gun for six months after they buy it. Some people start to forget that after the six months and even don’t go shooting often; I know it’s heresy.
A revolver works very well for someone who makes the adult decision that they aren’t going to keep up with it as much. But they want something available for when times go bad. In no way am I saying they shouldn’t go out and shoot every 30 days. Nor am I saying they don’t clean it regularly. But the revolver is much more forgiving due to the lack of spring compression and other issues that most people who have semi autos forget.
The newer, Striker fired pistols is a good example. Many new owners may not realize the impact to the Magizine spring by leaving it fully loaded all the time all three magazines. Nor do they realize that even when it’s in storage, they should release the spring assist to the Striker system otherwise that spring as well is staying compressed for however long they leave it in storage.
A revolver, fully loaded without pulling the hammer back has no springs being compressed. For the lazy or the not really Gun folks it is a good option.
To us, Gun folks we all know that we Guns are awesome.

Springs wear out from the action of compression and decompression. Static tension or leaving a spring compressed at a constant state does not cause metal fatigue.

It causes a change to spring tension/ memory when left compressed for long periods.

Paper targets don't shoot back.
The NYPD used revolvers for 122 years and revolvers are still used as backups till this day.
I bet in that time revolvers were used in more shootouts than everyone on this forum combined times 100 will ever be in.

Only if you push the spring past its elastic range and that really only happens if you try to overload it.
This came up in my last class at Glock, modern mags are perfectly safe to leave loaded for years. If you’re concerned, just load down one round, it’ll take some pressure off the feed lips but it’s really not needed.
