I only drink for a few days before season while wondering the woods peeing on all the neighbors treestands & trails.

I admire your pluck, but deer don't care about human urine odor.

Human smell generally, yes, but pee, no.

Many thoughts on this one.

First, is this a large issue that I am not aware of? Has there been many incidents in which booze caused bad things to happen while hunting? I searched and found zero incidents.

Second, how in the hell is this going to be enforced?

Third, what happens when I refuse to cooperate with the DEC?

Is there a problem with intoxicated hunters in New York City and the immediate area?

The New York City politicians should stay in their own lane.

It seems to me that the urban areas have enough of their own problems to address.
So why is it that the politicians that represent the NYC urban area, constantly concern themselves with the rural areas?
Fuck them,,, we in the rural areas vote in our own representatives to represent our concerns and needs.

For an example, in my area we voted in Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R) and Senator Michael Ranzenhofer (R) to represent us at the state level... Not Anna Kaplan or any other New York City Democrat.

There may be a problem with intoxicated hunters in New York City... LOL
But in WNY I don't think that it is a problem... not that I am aware of anyways.

let me ask this: How many hunting 'accidents' were there last year: From the NYS DEC website

The 2018 hunting seasons in New York tallied the lowest number of recorded hunting-related shooting incidents (HRSIs) and tied the 2016 mark - 13 - as the safest on record, Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos announced today. DEC documented five tree stand incidents and zero fatalities in 2018, down from 12 tree stand incidents the previous year.

"The tradition of hunting is enjoyed by nearly 600,000 New Yorkers and visitors each year, and the declining number of hunting incidents prove that today's generation of hunters continue to be the most safety conscious," said Commissioner Seggos. "In large part, hunting in New York continues to be a safe and enjoyable activity thanks to the efforts of 2,600 DEC staff and volunteer hunter education program instructors that teach nearly 50,000 students each year."

Of the 13 HRSIs that occurred last year, seven were two-party firearm incidents, six were self-inflicted, and three resulted in fatalities that could have been prevented if hunting safety rules and common sense were followed. Of the three fatalities, two were self-inflicted and caused by unsafe handling of firearms and one was a two-party firearm incident caused by a failure to positively identify the target. at no time was alcohol even mentioned related to these incidents, uuum, I guess we do need more legislation on hunter safety
