@Different Drummer the saw horses are Stanley Fat Max. Approx 30-3/4" high to top of plastic. 27" deep/wide. 23-5/8" work surface between the 2x4s. I think Dewalts on link I posted are same thing as what I have but branded differently.

Just talked to a guy who said he can do basically whatever I want, and we kinda talked about doing I think exactly what you said - basically add ledger board onto the sides of the garage like a deck and building a floor from there. Supported by concrete footers on the outside, he said it'd take one hell of a seismic event to shift the garage from the addition. After talking about it, it's looking like an 8x16 addition to the garage may be the ticket, depending on cost. If not, then we'll just go w/ a standalone shed

Yeah, it looks like you'll be doing this a lot sooner than I will be, so I'll be watching your build, seeing how you do things. I'm guessing when all said and done, there will be some similarities between ours

That's why I'm not doing the construction, lol. I knew enough that it was like a deck plate, but not knowing the terms could get messy, hahaha
Got roof done doors and trim tomorrow.
Improvised a brake for flashing under soffit...
Came out ok lol. The wavy seam will be covered with trim on studs and is hidden under soffit..
Had to top nail last course of shingles so covered it with flashing, which runs under soffit and up onto studs. Glued it to shingles with PL flashing cement.

So slight kink in the road... they were completely out of siding so we switched it up and did board and batten... came out awesome! Took longer than expected but very happy with how they turned out. Finally seeing some light at end of tunnel!

I'm kind of at a kink too. Not sure what I should be paying for this type of work, got a $3k price for the roof and another $4k for the lean-to, $5k if I wanted to do combined roof and lean-to, $3k for free-standing shed. I know good work aint cheap, but man am I deflated

Is that to build it or just lay shingles? Without knowing details kinda hard to comment on pricing but if it's just to do the roofing (not build it) sounds high to me. Post a pic if you can. Where are you located may be able to help. Thanks.

Strange. Shingling a house sucks but it's kind of fun doing it on something small and low down like a shed.

In this case I'd rather have done a house. The roof was so small and relatively steep and the tree on one side made it hard to move around. Would have gotten more done in same time on a larger roof lol...

I'm in Rochester.
$3k to tear off roof completely (cedar shakes under, and rotted too). It's like 12x20ish. It's an extra $4k to do the under eave extension like you built, $5k if I want to do the extension and incorporate the garage roof w/ it. So 3k for roof, 7k for roof and extension, 8k for roof and extension together
Granted, I know work isn't cheap, I guess I just underestimated the price of materials and labor. Labor rate he's giving me seems good too since he's doing it himself and isn't a big crew. He also said he shot high with both. I guess I just didn't know and was hoping it could all be done for less (which it probably could, but not as good).

My 1100sq ft box house in Fairport cost me $5k for a tear off and resheathing. The roof was probably 6-700 sq ft with 1 dormer. Just for reference.

I would always rather come in at low actual than high actual.
That kind of money though couldnt you put up a brand new one? Granted I havent priced sheds in a while.

IDK, sounds kinda high to me but the wild card is how much of the original roof sheathing and/or framing needs to be replaced, if necessary. Just ballparking, tear-off and re-shingle existing roof $1,500 add lean-to shed roof maybe $2,500 with footings, debris disposal $500, so what's that $4,500? $250 -$1,500 depending on how much of existing roof needs to be repaired. So $4,750 to $6,000 all in if roof needs to be repaired as well. If I were to do it I'd also need to add $500 - $750 for hotel room, lol... you should get a few more quotes if you can.
