It’s an example of void filling. Do you really think that if Mastercard decided to stop gun purchases, Discover, Visa, American Express, or some other startup wouldn’t fill the void?
Should private businesses be allowed to ban guns?

No, it's OK for private industry but not government.
Because if a private company goes tyrannical, well, just find another place to shop or get another job.
But if a government does it, then you are stuck with them.
It's about the monopoly.
Just like the wedding cake.
If the baker says no cakes for gay weddings, then go down the street to the next baker.
But if the government says no licenses for gay marriages, you don’t have an alternative.

Discrimination based on race creed color is Ok so long as its not done by the government?
Correct.
Ah yes, nothing says "I support the rights of private businesses to operate as they please" quite like a governor that took away that right.
When history repeats itself I hope they find a way to convict the Gov and everyone associated with the new carry law guilty of accessory to murder.

Affirmative action hiring practices kind of do this. And wasn’t there a school somewhere that was going to fire whites before anyone else?

Can a Business Prohibit Guns? - FindLaw
Despite the Second Amendment right to bear arms, businesses across the country are free to adopt their own policies regulating and even prohibiting guns. Businesses are free to ban guns from their property. However, in some states, there may be some hurdles to jump (or signs to post) before...

It always amazes me people who do not do any research to check that their opinion is correct!
Nope. But nothing is really guaranteed in life.
I think there are far too many government regulations. Hire and fire whom one wants for whatever reason.

That took years. The credit card companies changed their rules in the middle of the game. In addition, the credit card companies should not be able to dictate what I buy if it’s legal . And switching or adding a credit card can and often does have a negative impact on one’s credit rating .

I wouldn't say OK.
It's still a detestable practice.
Allowed might be a better way to describe it.
Like burning the flag and being an actual neo-nazi. We don't think either of those are OK, but we understand that a commitment to freedom means we have to tolerate them.

The answer is we don’t know. Look what happened to Parler when the other tech companies dropped them.

They can't dictate what you buy.
Only what you buy with their card.
We're not at the point, yet, where you can't buy it if you can't use your card.
We *are* at the point where cards will refuse to process payments for some businesses.
There is no practical difference between a card that won't let you buy a gun, and a card that will not let a gun shop process any payments.

There are anti-trust laws that should be pursued for that sort of thing. One company has a right to drop you. But when they all collude to do it together that really looks illegal.
Of course, our DOJ is not interested in enforcing laws if they help the right, so...
Why shouldn’t they be able to? It’s their money that you are borrowing. A bank denies most loans unless it’s for specific reasons. Same thing.
Doesn’t matter how long it takes. The point is that it happens.
Let me ask you this. If you apply for a loan from Bank of America for booze, whores, and coke, should BOA have to give it to you? Or do they have the right to deny that loan and only give you that loan for a mortgage or home improvement?

There is a practical difference. The gun shop thst can’t process cards will say we don’t take that credit card. For the credit card to deny a legal purchase because they don’t like the product is a different matter and can be an arbitrary one. They are already dropping people they don’t like as clients without warning . The same with banks . Imagine being on a trip and you are cut off from your bank and credit card in todays world . A lot of gun shops exist on internet or phone business. Try doing that business without credit card access. Alternatives take time and planning . Not all businesses can survive that nor are customers always willing to make a switch on credit card usage.

Now, change that that to they already approved your HELOC, then after you hired the builders and broke ground , they just canceled it and took the money that was deposited in your bank account .
Let’s use a variation of your example especially since coke and hookers are illegal in most parts of the country . You do want to buy booze and have a big party—you apply for a loan and are approved. Now your daughter can have that big wedding day with a live band and the fancy stuff. Two days before the wedding, the bank decides, nope, we are going to revoke our loan because we don’t like weddings. Your ability to repay the loan hasn’t changed . We just don’t like weddings. Good luck finding a new loan in time. That’s the equivalent of what some of these card companies did.
You have to realize that it’s not your money. It’s theirs. They can give you a loan or not give you a loan.
Your scenario makes no sense anyway because once granted and deposited, they cannot take it back at that point. A contract was signed.
Besides, nobody gets a loan 2 days before a wedding. Those things are planned time in advance.

We use square for our farm store. It’s great for what we do. They do not however, allow sales of firearms. I don’t agree with them on the guns but they offer a good product otherwise. Private company, their rules.

They can and will especially if the bank account is with that lender.
As far as contracts, ask Parler about their contract with Amazon ‘s servers and how it didn’t matter.
It seems that you just want to push something out just for the sake of pushing something out because you have nothing better to do or it’s just a compulsion you have.
A loan contract is not the same as a server contract. You cannot compare a loan signed by yourself and a loan officer to a service that can be terminated at any time.

I am saying that that is how they will stop you from buying guns with your card.
They will not tell you you can't buy the gun.
They will just stop doing business with anyone who could sell you one.
But the end result is the same.
You walk into any gun shop and they all say "sorry, we can't take any of the cards in your wallet because they all dropped us".
So, what's the difference between "you can't buy a gun" and "nobody can sell you one" ?

If you think your bank is that dirty, get another bank.
If you can't do that, withdraw the full amount as cash immediately.

the service in that case wasn’t to be terminated without at least a 60 day notice but it was anyway .
And yes, loans can be pulled at the last second very often for no reason . I do know of a few people who were pre-approved, and the bank pulled out at closing on a house. The same with business loans .

Pre approval and getting a check that’s cashed and in your account are two different things.
