I agree. SHTF isn't always going to be combat. More times than not you have to appear unarmed so as not to paint yourself as a target while everyone is desperate and unprepared.

if it happened now .. well Friday i got my G2 chronograph in the mail so the truck was loaded that morning , 20g single shot , 12ga over under , bow , 223 savage and 270 savage axis , ammo bag for all and my friends guns (we reload at my place) , and truck is still loaded up that way now .. in this situation .. i'm a sniper with the rifles or the bow .. I'd most likely be heading to friends house with more of his ammo and my guns ..

If I'm home in NY, Glock 19 and the two extra mags (3total) and the Mini 14 with the two extra mags ( 3 total) all on a web belt. Grab the GO Bag which has a couple extra mags of each and 100 rounds of 9 and 223 plus the other "survival stuff" (mountain house, fire starting, mini stove, knives etc.etc.etc.) fill the bladder and canteens, boots on and go.
In AZ, same but AR instead of Mini.
If I am just out and about in the car around town, I have the Glock 43 on and a mini bag with a Lifestraw, extra mag loaded, 25 rounds of Hornady, fixed blade, mini tool, compass/whistle, lighter, fenix pd22 flashlight,extra 123 battery, food replacement bars (3), stash of singles and local map. All in a pack just smaller than a football. Head for home.
I don't plan on going anywhere else than home but if I have to leave that's what I'm taking.

Nah. And besides. I can use the m4 to acquire what i need.
After YOUR main gun goes down, or runs dry , YOU can use YOUR sidearm to shoot YOURSELF, in tight quarters. Now, that is a more likely scenerio.

Currently have the P30 in 40 with 50 rounds extra with me, 1 loaded mag. It's easier to shoot than my Shield, but the sights still need work. That being said, I can compensate for it. That should be enough to get me home where I have the usual locked and loaded and ready to go. I'm staying put for a while, let the crazies do their thing.

The nice thing too, since I was mostly talked out of putting a compartment or lockbox in my truck, I've been carrying it in my backpack. It's currently on the back of my chair here in the office. Hot and ready, and I've been carrying the bag for a while now, so I'm used to the weight.

I'm grabbing my Glock 34 for my hip and my Remington 870 with black synthetic furniture. With the versatility of 12 ga shotgun loads I couldn't leave that gun behind.

Hell, I wouldn't have to leave my house. I got turkey, rabbit, deer, right in my yard, every day, all day! And the Hudson River 5 blocks from my house, and Fahnstock park just 5 miles away..so, if I had to fish...I'm good there, too. Not that I'd want to eat much from the Hudson River, but, I suppose eating some nuclear mutant seafood now and then, beats starving...LOL. 
Either Glock 21 or 17 and my NYGF AR.

I don't have pistols, but I have a decent amount of shotguns, ARs, and various other rifles. If I had to choose.....I'd grab the Remington 850, and an AR. I suppose those 2 would suffice. I'd have range, stopping power, and multiple shell options...birdshot, slugs, buckshot, and long range with the AR. And I have a ton of ammo for both formats.

Keltec folds nicely into go bag. A 9mn handgun because 45 ammo is too heavy in quantity, and a 410. Again it's much lighter than my 12ga. My pocket shot sling shot. (You all should check this thing out). Plus the normal kit of fixed blades, folders, trauma supplies etc. And my stock oh 18 year McCallan, not leaving without that.

- My p938 since it's got night sights on it currently, and conceals well.
- Any of my various AKs, since the thing is reliable as hell and you can be basically clean it with shoestrings and motor oil in a SHTF scenario and it'll run like a champ.

For the pistol I would take a West German Sig 228 in 9mm. As for the rifle, a Tikka T3 CTR in .308. This rifle shoots as smooth as it cycles. It also eats any type of ammo.

IF one were to buy a few "extra " guns in the near future ... What to buy during the next year in prep for a SHTF situation ....I am thinking in line of a bolt action type gun . My line of thinking is at my age to try to stay out of as many fire fights as possible . I have read about this
