Spanish Star Pistols

Anyone into these? I am fascinated by them, they look really cool to my eyes. Model 28/30/31, Firestar, Megastar.
A 31 in 9mm, Firestar in .40 and Megastar in 10mm would be my desired collection lineup. It would seem the Model 30 and Firestar are reasonable in price while the Megastsr less so with magazines, especially for the Megastsr being a sticking point.
These pistols along with a complimentary selection of 3rd Gen S&W pistols would make for an interesting selection of solid yet forgotten DA/SA 90s era guns. Then agin I belive the Megastar and Firestars are single action.

I had a star model A back in the early 90s. It was chambered in 38 largo, my gunsmith chambered it in 38 super for me and I was using it

.38 Largo? I have not heard of that cartridge, is it distinct from 9mm Largo?

Sorry meant 9mm largo, was thinking about the conversion to 38 super and typed 38 instead of 9.

Well for all I knew there WAS a 38 Largo Cartridge. Paul Harrell talked about such during his "fake expert" topic. Recalled a time when someone brought up 10mm back in the day and not having heard of it before was all "No there is no such thing as 10mm, you mean 9mm" . So I try not to do this myself. All kinds of weird, obscure Cartridges out there.
But what I was really curious about was if the 9mm Largo was, like tge .38 Super, was also a semi rimmed Cartridge. I know very little about 9mm Largo other than it existed, is a little longer and less powerful than 9mm Para, that's it.

They are out there on the second hand market for not too much money.
Personally I'd most likely a Mrgastar in 10mm but they didn't get around to producing a whole bunch due to its introduction in '92 and the Subsequent AWB in '95.
Still a hefty, all steel double stack 10mm is quite appealing.

It's been a while, but I did have a Megastar, and a couple Firestars, and ironically enough a best friend texted yesterday to keep an eye out for one...The older "B" and "BM" are kin to the Argentinian Ballester Molina's and Ballester Regauds that look like a 1911, share a few parts with one, but are very different internally...When Century Arms sold them as "U-fix-'em's" I bought several, refinished, new Grips, new Barrels, and a full length guide rod and springs and the damn things shoot VERY WELL!

You mention 3rd Gen S&W my first 9mm was a 1989 #6906 near 20yrs ago, Posted this Smith/Wesson family photo awhile back.


Almost got rid of the 6906 as it had 12 round mags luckily I was able to get 10 rounder's right from S&W store at that time.

Yes, the Star pistols of tge 90s and S&W's 3rd gen pistols seem very much in the same vein and about equally overlooked and forgotten.
