Do we dare hope for not only oral arguments and a decision sooner than later, but perhaps even the written decision being released before the end of June next year? Once again, the tradition of trampling, denying and finally delaying rights continues unabated.
Viramontes and Grant are scheduled to be heard in December. Just yesterday the lawyers for Duncan v Bonta petitioned SCOTUS to consolidate the Duncan case ( which is on ice in front of SCOTUS right now ) with Veramontes. I don't know what the chances of that actually happening are, but it is a possibility. The decisions for Veramontes and Grant will be released in late June or the first week of July next year.

Expanding, or cancelling, entirely, the AW registration of 43,000 weapons and 23,000 owners in NYS......... is not going to happen................handguns are bad enough...................recerts, etc. NYSP would need more staff or outsourcing to expand.
Allowing new AW registrants, and more full featured guns, behind the NYS Iron Curtain?

If they make a new scheme they can't force those people to register now without an amnesty, because that would be forcing them to incriminate themselves.
The same thing was said about COBIS, but that 32 Million Dollar FAILURE was defunded.
Because so many refused to Register their (sic) Assault Weapons and Magazines, there doesn't seem to be too much interest in repealing/defunding the Legislation, and while I expect someone monitors the Data, it's a closed loop system of little to no consequence.

The SAFE act was written because they thought they could get away with it.
There's nothing conservatives could have done or not done to change that short of actual wide spread violence.

So long as Democrats hold power and control it'll never happen; they know what they'd do if they had guns and expect you'll do the same, besides they know most gun crime is committed by BLM types.

So, no, if you don't require licensing to vote, then Bruen made it clear it wasn't ok to require it in order to exercise your 2nd, same goes for training, etc.!
Problem is municipalities have outright ignored that part of Bruen, and with Malfeasant Govt Entities like NY, they laugh and thumb their noses at SCOTUS because they know it has no teeth!
