Armed Patron Who Fatally Shot Robber in Houston Taqueria will Face Grand Jury

As previously reported, a robber was shot to death by a patron at a taqueria on S. Gessner just before midnight last Thursday night.

Surveillance video shows a black male in a black ski mask walking around the taqueria and robbing customers at gunpoint (it later turned out he was holding a BB gun).
According to Houston Police, the Good Samaritan then collected the money from the suspect and gave it back to the robbery victims.

The unnamed 46-year-old armed customer (pictured below) is cooperating with law enforcement and will face a grand jury.

The good Samaritan has not been charged.

Hmm, another thing to consider when looking at houses....

[Darth]

In NY if that would've happened, you'd be locked up a while, never get your gun(s) back, and probably lose your pistol permit and be in bigger danger because you are now in the media.

Not really sure this is the kind of mentality we want to spread in a state where too many are already scared of their own shadow shadow it comes to gun ownership.

How close the nearest taco shop is ?

Actually, I could see that as being a factor.

Good Samaritan: because my name is John Wick. It is the way

Seriously, I shot him in the head? That's not where I was aiming.... I guess I need to go to the range for more practice. Actually, I was just checking to make sure he wasn't a threat any longer, as I was still in fear for my life.

[thughes]

I hate to be "that guy" but standing over the perp and popping him in the head after you've taken his weapon from him is going to be problematic....even in Texas. Curious to see how this plays out.

Move out here.

50% of restaurants are taco shops.

When the only employee who speaks English is the one working the register you know the cuisine is going to be authentic.

When you go through drive through and they greet you in Spanish and only switch to English after you reply you know you're close to the border

I think the lesson to come out of this is going to be to be prepared to articulate why you took the actions you did.

If the good guy says that he took the last shot because he saw the guy reaching for the gun or was trying to do something else that he perceived as a threat, he'll be better off than if he says he shot for some any other reason than the bad guy was still a threat.

[fresch]

Or like our politicians, take the 5th and say ask my lawyer.
Or tell them you have seen on tv how every time the bad guy gets back up when you turn around.
Or tell them, for the same reason, Officer who shot Ashli Babbitt speaks after months in hiding: ‘I saved countless lives’
