I've replaced mine 5 or 6 times, and it was looking ratty again. At least the new version will fit a wallet now.
They didn't say anything about keeping a copy with me. Just handed me the new card and a printout of what I have. It's all in their computers now so any officer will see what you have on it. No need for them to contact the PP division.

Interesting piece on the subject. One of the legal experts thinks it could be a year or more before the 2nd circuit rules. There needs to me more district court decisions to see what concensus is. I guess this means the more favorable ruling we get it strengthen our case in the appellate court. This also includes to assault weapon ban case in CT.

If there are enough favorable rulings then we win. Second circuit won’t mess with that. If it’s a mixed bag- it goes to SCOTUS. That’s also a win for us (as long as the court doesn’t change)

I think there has been plenty of other favorable rulings across the USA and in the lower courts of NYS. Also a mixed result doesn’t ensure scotus will take it up. They have a few options and they could hear the case, they could kick it back to the lower courts, or they could deny to hear the case. There have been plenty of sure thing cases or so we thought that were never heard by them for various reasons. Time will tell and a few years might be a bit optimistic or the judges could get pissed and want to hear it right away. Also keep in mind they take July, August, and September off so if the second circuit times it right it could be a while before they hear it and drag it out accordingly. It could be 1.5-2 years before the Supreme Court even has the chance to hear it.

Who said the courts were efficient? You have the right to a speedy trial, but that’s only if charged with a crime. I could be wrong but I don’t think this timeline is much longer or different than in the past and if it is they will just blame Covid.

I believe the Preliminary Injunction issued by Judge Sinatra in Christian v Nigrelli has not yet been squashed by the 2nd circuit and is still in effect. I've been following this very closely and check for updates several times a day. If I'm wrong, any additional info would be appreciated. Thanx.

On another forum, a member attended a meeting last night where the commanding officer of the Suffolk County Pistol License Bureau spoke and said even though Judge Sinatra put a preliminary injunction on the restricted places, Suffolk County was still enforcing it. Even when we get a win, it's still a loss

The wording is very clear on the last page of the injunction. The arrogance of these tyrants is appalling.

Oh, really? Just wait for them to actually enforce it and then inform the judge . The lawsuits and penalties will be high. Judges don’t like that kind of stuff .

After thinking about it....that has to be a total scare tactic to prevent at least some of the law abiding ppl from carrying onto private property, businesses, etc since as of right now they cannot legally enforce that part of the CCIA....

I sure hope so. But they have no fear of this happening because they aren't personally liable. Who ends you paying the fine? We, the taxpayers. So they can do whatever they want without fear

I am not sure this is correct.
It appears the protected places list given out to new Suffolk permit holders this week is crossed out to reflect the injunction.
I was told this by a Suffolk Leo and saw a discussion supporting this on the Long Island forum this month.

This is correct. As is the Hardaway PI for places of worship. Just a guess but this approach of decisions per restriction in the law, one at a time, may be the best. Antonyuk was a decision finding many aspects unconstitutional. The 2nd only needs to doubt, or be concerned about one aspect to stay. The Sinatra approach may get our rights back one at a time and be allowed by the second to remain in place awaiting final decision.

Also Sinatra only applies to churches if I’m not mistaken. Seems like the one guy got the two lawsuits mixed up.

I believe Sinatra has both the restricted areas (Christian v. Nigrelli), and the places of worship. I can't remember the name of this case.
