If you don’t have a rifle licenses you can’t buy one of them. Also sounded like the county wasn’t there to add pistols so then you’re left with a shotgun and maybe some ammo. Also now you’re tracked with your CC. No thanks. I’m not sure I’ll go to a gun show again. I wasn’t too fond of them anyway since the cost of most things there is outrageous. If the economy gets bad enough I’ll visit to try to find a deal, but the one buy me usually has no deals. Even ammo is outrageous.

If you purchased a rifle from the gun show and passed the federal background check at the time of purchase who there was stopping the sale and how would they know to?
I have Never used my credit card at a gun show. Cash is King for best negotiation power.

Most likely an FFL, but every gun show I have been at there has been numerous uniformed and undercover cops at so them to in all likelihood.

Did anyone go to the gun show this weekend? If so, how was it?

I went. Had to add one to my permit so I went instead of going downtown or into Elma which has been super busy. The usual stuff. A few good deals, some way overpriced stuff like always. Some of the ammo prices though were insane. I swear some sellers don’t know there’s such a thing as the internet.

We have our usual tables N/O 35~37 although with all the Dealers who've given up and ones from out of State that come here to sell ammunition saying "fuck that place" I expect we'll have additional Tables to fill...
The Dealers getting out should be discounting the shit out of guns.
The two big guys that sell ammo probably won't be there; they usually have all they can do to just watch things and make sales, who the hell has time to be jerked off by a massive form to be entered, transmitted, and await a reply from the State.
I usually sell M1 Garands and other Semi-automatic Military type Rifles, but unless you've got the magic permission slip from the State, that ain't happening.
Handguns do OK so long as the Clerks are set up, but that's ONLY for Onondaga County.
Oh well, I'll bring a bunch of C&R stuff of my own, and the Shop generally has a well rounded selection and 2 or 3 cases full of Handguns, and we shall see.

I’ll be going to the Syracuse show on Saturday, partly to watch the cluster fuck, but mostly to load up on some select reloading components.

Wait. They’re charging $20 for the “right” to buy a rifle? Fuck them! A lady in front of me had her restrictions removed instantly after just filling out a form. No essay, no references, no interview. The only positive thing Bruen has done for us in ny.

The "semi license" is only a $3.00 charge in their office. Everyone has a budget and the sheriff has to pay someone to sit there and drag all their electronics back and forth. I think it's a great idea and a great service from an out of town sheriff to offer in Suckacuse. If Sheriff Hood or his permit girl Sue is there, go say hi! Great people!

And I bet there's a line of people wanting the semi endorsement.

My thoughts as well. This show is going to have two lines, one to get into the building, and another even longer one extending out the back end for everyone who has to wait 30 minutes to purchase their single box of ammo.

Who went to the Syracuse show on Saturday? I couldn't make it. Crowded, I suppose.

It was very slow, no crowds to speak of, no waiting to get in, 50 unfilled tables, there IS a shit-load of ammunition and reloading supplies (no powder that I know of) They are doing Background Checks on ammunition and the information demanded is very intrusive, but it's NOT the Dealers, it's the shot the State's web site demands to complete the process.... ANY who submit will have wayyy more information than they need or should be allowed.

A true story from just now trying to run a background check over the phone through the NY NICS system at the Syracuse gun show:
Brandon called and asked to do a background check overt the phone.
Operator 303: "Can't do it, not until Oct."
B: Ok, lemme talk to a supervisor
303: "Not here today"
B: Ok what's their name?
"Can't tell you"
B: Ok I'll foia all of this? You can just tell me it's not a law
"It's our policy"
B: Are you a trooper? Is it your policy not to identify yourself to the public?
303: "Sir we're trying to help ffls at the Syracuse show today it's very busy stop HARRASSING us"
B: Operator 303, I'm a disgruntled member of the public and a NY Dealer and I'm AT the show trying to get the very service you're denying us! Btw, I'm recording this call as is my right (I wasn't but) and he starts FREAKING out he's like NO NO NO YOU CANT DO THAT!
B: One-party consent state pal
303: "Oh yes, you're right, you can"
B: Bro are you a trooper? A contractor????
"I'm a civilian trooper employee"
B: Have a good day
303: "Cries/laughs"

WTF is a "civilian Trooper employee"?
"I work for da man, so I'm a junior trooper in training"...fucktards.
Everything we read and were able to find indicated they WOULD NOT accept any calls for nics checks, and the only voice communication would be for technical issues accessing the (unsecure) web site.
There was more than one Show this weekend, and being there in person, there were NOT that many checks or sales being conducted, and if that overloads them then the whole thing is grossly underbuilt and will fail... "No Supervisor" on a weekend of the biggest Show in the State, on a Saturday, with a brand new system and new people, and you expect me to believe there's no supervision...bull-fucking-shit!
I will say that often with the "delay" using the FBI direct, that pause was for "this transaction requires further review" by a Supervisor: SO, if they're delaying people it's either their overwhelmed, too fucking lazy to get the work done (State does embrace affirmative action and hiring the handicapped) or their waiting until someone in authority decide "oh, this isn't the droid we're looking for."
