And as far as communism goes the cure was far worse than the disease.
Overwhelming majority of people who lived under communism, counted equally worldwide, don't believe that.

The communists were as imperialist as anyone in history.
Their official goal was *global* communism. By any means necessary. This was not hidden.
The official short lived goal was worldwide revolution by the oppressed classes, which would lead to equality and brotherhood of all nations. Although unrealistic and unachievable, it's a complete opposite of Imperialism which is the rule of one nation over others.

....... and yet there were numerous dissidents in the Soviet Union who weren't arrested or assassinated, unlike anti-communist regimes in Latin America who used death squads to hold on to power. Not much different from what has been going on in Ukraine for years.

True, but he is also very proud of various Soviet accomplishments and while conducting International diplomacy he is quick to point out all the help Soviet Union provided to third world countries in their struggle against Colonialism and Imperialism.

Communism is growing in popularity in the USA. It will win big in November. The unaffordablity of goods and services is a huge driving factor. The government debt is a big factor. Laziness is a big factor. We’re screwed.

The willful failure of our educational institutions to teach the reality of history is to blame.
Communism sounds great on paper to the 50% of the population that have no desire to contribute to society.

The US did all sorts of "bad things" during the cold war.
But comparing that to the communists is like comparing shoplifters to serial killers.
