I have an obsidian 9 from rugged, and I use it with a pistol with normal height sights just fine.
It's obviously not as good as suppressor height sights, but if you keep both eyes open your brain will superimpose the sight picture of the right eye over the target picture from the left and will work pretty well.
At 50yds with a G26 I don't see too much degradation in my accuracy, maybe 15%
At closer distances it seems to be even less important.
I'm sure for low iron sights on a rifle it would be a lot more significant, but that's also a lot less common of a configuration.

You could sight along the top like a ridge sight, and probably get good enough accuracy for most pistol needs "in the wild". But that's never going to be as accurate as a proper sight picture.
Plus, you should have both eyes open anyway for situational awareness.
Once you get used to it, it really works pretty well. You have your normal sight picture. It's just half coming from the left eye and half from the right.
It's a bit like using one of those "magic eye" random dot stereogram pictures that were popular a while back. But once you get used to it, it doesn't take any time at all to get the picture up.
You could try it with just a post-it note stuck on the front of your favorite pistol.

It’s rather haunting. But I think it’s important people know about this, so I’ll be posting Mangione’s words in full, so you may get a better idea of the “why” of things:
I’m a father myself. I have parents and siblings I love deeply. And I would absolutely be furious if I had to watch the people I love in this world suffer waiting for treatment they cannot afford, despite paying thousands of dollars a year in case of such emergencies. Every year 68,000 Americans die of preventable diseases and many of them are are denied life-saving medication or operation by Brian Thompson and other CEOs like him… Mr. Thompson had hundreds of thousands if not millions of “enemies”. He didn’t see them as people, though… just, numbers. And now he’s a statistic too.

It depends on the level of crime. Speeding across the border is not a federal crime. Speeding across three states being pursued by law enforcement after conducting a mass shooting can be. Planning a bombing, making the bomb, going to another state can become federal. Making it federal lessens the jurisdiction fights between states.
I just find it interesting that the Feds decided to get involved in this case....
Less than 1/10 of 1% of murders like this get charged at the federal level.
Gotta ask why now? Why this case? Because a wealthy was involved. Weird.
